تحولت أجواء البهجة والتسوق في مدينة فينيا ديل مار التشيلية إلى ساحة من الصدمة والذهول، بعدما اقتحمت سيارة مسرعة مهرجاناً شعبياً مكتظاً بالزوار، لتدهس الحشود بعنف مخلفة وراءها 6 قتلى على الأقل و7 جرحى، في حادثة مأساوية أوقفت نبض المدينة الواقعة غرب العاصمة سانتياغو.
الحادثة وقعت بينما كان الأهالي يستمتعون بأجواء مهرجان «كاوبوليكان»، حيث فقد السائق السيطرة على مركبته لأسباب لا تزال غامضة حتى الآن، ليتجه مباشرة نحو المشاة الموجودين عند أطراف المهرجان، وفق ما صرح به الكولونيل في الشرطة المحلية، خورخي غوايتا، لوكالة «فرانس برس».
وفور وقوع الفاجعة، هرعت فرق طوارئ واسعة النطاق إلى الموقع لإسعاف المصابين وتطويق المكان، في حين تناقل ناشطون على منصة «إكس» مقاطع فيديو توثق حالة الإرباك ولحظة اعتقال السائق من قبل القوات الأمنية واقتياده مباشرة إلى التحقيق للكشف عن ملابسات هذه الفاجعة ودوافعها.
