في صفقة لافتة أثارت اهتمام هواة جمع العملات حول العالم، بيعت عملة صينية نادرة تعود إلى الحقبة الإمبراطورية، تحمل نقش «التنين»، مقابل 4.87 مليون دولار خلال مزاد علني أُقيم في هونغ كونغ بتنظيم دار Heritage Auctions، وتم شراؤها عبر مزايدة هاتفية.
والعملة من الفضة وتحمل اسم «التنين ذو الشوارب القصيرة»، وتُصنّف ضمن أندر الإصدارات النقدية في تاريخ الصين الحديث، إذ سُكّت عام 1911 في دار سك العملة بمدينة تيانجين، خلال السنة الأخيرة من حكم أسرة تشينغ الإمبراطورية.
وشهد تصميم العملة مشاركة المصمم الإيطالي لويجي جيورجي، الذي أسهم في منحها طابعاً فنياً مميزاً جعلها لاحقاً واحدة من أكثر القطع النقدية طلباً في مزادات العملات النادرة حول العالم.
In a striking deal that captured the attention of coin collectors around the world, a rare Chinese coin from the imperial era, featuring the "dragon" inscription, was sold for $4.87 million during a public auction held in Hong Kong organized by Heritage Auctions, and it was purchased via a phone bid.
The coin is made of silver and is known as the "dragon with short whiskers," classified among the rarest currency issues in modern Chinese history, as it was minted in 1911 at the Tianjin Mint, during the last year of the Qing Dynasty's rule.
The design of the coin involved the participation of Italian designer Luigi Giorgi, who contributed to giving it a distinctive artistic character that later made it one of the most sought-after coins in rare coin auctions around the world.
