كشف الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب في مقابلة حديثة مع صحيفة "نيويورك تايمز" أنه لم يستخدم أياً من أدوية إنقاص الوزن أو أدوية السكري من فئة "الببتيد الشبيه بالغلوكاجون-1"، والمعروفة باسم "أدوية الدهون"، وأضاف مازحًا: "لا، لم أفعل، ربما يجب علي فعل ذلك".
ويأتي هذا التصريح بعد صدور تقريره الطبي في أبريل، والذي أظهر أن طوله يبلغ 190.5 سم ووزنه 101.6 كغ، أي أقل بنحو 9 كغ مقارنة بالفحص الطبي في عام 2020 خلال ولايته الأولى، حين كان يقترب من نطاق السمنة.
وكان ترمب قد انتقد سابقًا دواء "أوزمبيك"، المستخدم لعلاج السكري من النوع الثاني وأحد أشهر أدوية التخسيس، واصفًا إياه بحبوب السمنة، مشيرًا إلى أنه قد ينجح مع بعض الأشخاص ولا يكون فعالًا مع آخرين، وذلك خلال حديثه للصحفيين في المكتب البيضاوي بحضور وزير الصحة روبرت كينيدي جونيور.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن أدوية مثل أوزمبيك ومونجارو وويغوفي انتشرت بكثرة خلال السنوات الأخيرة كحل سريع لإنقاص الوزن عبر كبح الشهية، إذ تعمل على محاكاة هرمون طبيعي يفرز بعد الطعام، ما يعزز إفراز الإنسولين ويمنح الشعور بالشبع.
ورغم إشادة بعض المستخدمين بفعاليتها، إلا أن هذه الأدوية ارتبطت بآثار جانبية تشمل الغثيان والتقيؤ واضطرابات الجهاز الهضمي، إضافة إلى ترهلات الجلد، ومخاطر صحية أكثر خطورة في بعض الحالات.

In a recent interview with the "New York Times," U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that he has not used any weight loss medications or diabetes drugs from the "glucagon-like peptide-1" class, known as "fat drugs," adding jokingly, "No, I haven't, maybe I should do that."
This statement comes after the release of his medical report in April, which showed that he is 190.5 cm tall and weighs 101.6 kg, about 9 kg less compared to the medical examination in 2020 during his first term, when he was nearing the obesity range.
Trump had previously criticized the drug "Ozempic," used to treat type 2 diabetes and one of the most popular weight loss medications, describing it as a "fat pill," noting that it may work for some people and not be effective for others, during his remarks to reporters in the Oval Office in the presence of Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr.
It is worth mentioning that drugs like Ozempic, Munjaro, and Wegovy have become widely popular in recent years as a quick solution for weight loss by suppressing appetite, as they mimic a natural hormone released after eating, which enhances insulin secretion and provides a feeling of fullness.
Despite some users praising their effectiveness, these medications have been associated with side effects including nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disorders, as well as skin laxity, and more serious health risks in some cases.
