إجبار نفسك على حميات أو أساليب لا تحبها يدمر تطورك
Neuroscientist Rachel Barr revealed a common mistake in the world of self-development and wellness known as the “cold-plunge fallacy.” In a recent report published by Boing Boing in September 2025, Barr explained that immersing oneself in traditional and popular health practices like cold water plunges is not suitable for everyone; in fact, it can lead to increased stress levels and the emergence of negative feelings, especially for those who dislike the experience to begin with. She added that what activates your mental health is not the practice itself, but your ability to harmonize with the rhythm and nature of your mind, and to avoid forcing yourself to adopt diets or methods that do not align with your inner feelings. She continued: “What you do for your mental health should be in tune with what your brain needs — and it should generally make you feel good most of the time,” considering that some techniques that are rumored to be beneficial may actually be harmful and stressful for those who do not feel comfortable with them.
