تتواصل جهود رجال الحماية المدنية في العاصمة المصرية القاهرة، للسيطرة على تداعيات حريق هائل اندلع مساء الإثنين في سنترال رمسيس التابع للشركة المصرية للاتصالات، وما زالت عمليات التبريد مستمرة صباح اليوم (الثلاثاء) لمنع تجدد الاشتعال بعد رصد أدخنة طفيفة داخل المبنى.
الحريق، الذي يُعتقد أن سببه خلل فني أو كهربائي، أسفر عن وفاة 4 أشخاص وإصابة 33 آخرين بحالات اختناق، بينهم 10 من رجال الشرطة، تم نقلهم إلى المستشفيات لتلقي العلاج، أما المتوفون هم المهندسون محمد طلعت، أحمد رجب، أحمد الدرس، بالإصافة إلى ووائل مرزوق.
وقد تسبب الحريق في أضرار جسيمة بالبنية التحتية للاتصالات، مما أدى إلى انقطاع خدمات الإنترنت والهاتف المحمول والأرضي في أجزاء واسعة من القاهرة والجيزة، مع شكاوى المستخدمين من تعطل تطبيقات مثل فيسبوك وواتساب وتيك توك.
وزار وزير الاتصالات الدكتور عمرو طلعت، موقع الحريق لمتابعة الوضع ميدانيًا، بينما قاد مساعد وزير الداخلية للحماية المدنية، برفقة مدير أمن القاهرة ومسؤولي الحماية بمحافظات القاهرة والجيزة والقليوبية، جهودًا مكثفة لاحتواء النيران، ودفعت محافظتا الجيزة والقليوبية بسيارات إسعاف إضافية لدعم الطواقم الطبية.
وأعلن الدكتور إبراهيم صابر، محافظ القاهرة، تشكيل لجنة هندسية لتقييم أضرار المبنى، مع توجيهات بإزالة مخلفات الحريق فور انتهاء تحقيقات النيابة العامة لتحديد أسباب الحادث.
من جانبه، أكد الجهاز القومي لتنظيم الاتصالات أن الشركة المصرية للاتصالات تعمل على استعادة الخدمات تدريجيًا، مع تعويض المتضررين.
وأشار النائب أحمد بدوي، رئيس لجنة الاتصالات بمجلس النواب، إلى أن التأثير كان محدودًا، مع توقعات بعودة الخدمات الكاملة خلال ساعات.
ورغم تأثير الحريق على الاتصالات، أكدت مدينة الإنتاج الإعلامي استمرار البث التلفزيوني دون انقطاع، مع بعض الصعوبات في التواصل مع ضيوف البرامج.
ويُعد سنترال رمسيس مركزًا حيويًا يربط عدة سنترالات فرعية، ويخدم ملايين المستخدمين في قلب العاصمة.
The efforts of civil protection personnel continue in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to control the aftermath of a massive fire that broke out on Monday evening at the Ramses Central belonging to the Egyptian Telecommunications Company. Cooling operations are still ongoing this morning (Tuesday) to prevent the re-ignition after slight smoke was detected inside the building.
The fire, which is believed to have been caused by a technical or electrical malfunction, resulted in the death of 4 individuals and the injury of 33 others due to suffocation, including 10 police officers who were transported to hospitals for treatment. The deceased are engineers Mohamed Talaat, Ahmed Ragab, Ahmed Al-Darss, in addition to Wael Marzouk.
The fire caused significant damage to the telecommunications infrastructure, leading to the disruption of internet, mobile, and landline services in large parts of Cairo and Giza, with users complaining about the malfunction of applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and TikTok.
Dr. Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications, visited the fire site to monitor the situation on the ground, while the Assistant Minister of Interior for Civil Protection, accompanied by the Cairo Security Director and civil protection officials from Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia, led intensive efforts to contain the flames. The Giza and Qalyubia governorates dispatched additional ambulances to support the medical teams.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, announced the formation of an engineering committee to assess the damage to the building, with directives to remove the fire debris as soon as the public prosecutor's investigations are completed to determine the causes of the incident.
For its part, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that the Egyptian Telecommunications Company is working to gradually restore services, while compensating those affected.
MP Ahmed Badawy, head of the Communications Committee in the House of Representatives, noted that the impact was limited, with expectations for full service restoration within hours.
Despite the fire's impact on communications, the Media Production City confirmed that television broadcasting continues without interruption, although there are some difficulties in communicating with program guests.
The Ramses Central is a vital hub that connects several sub-centers and serves millions of users in the heart of the capital.
