لقي طفل بريطاني يدعى سيباستيان حتفه أثناء محاولته تنفيذ «تحدي فقدان الوعي» المنتشر على منصة «تيك توك»، في حادثة أثارت مخاوف جديدة من مخاطر المحتوى الرقمي الموجه للأطفال.
وأعلنت شرطة غرب يوركشاير أنها تلقت بلاغاً مساء الجمعة، يفيد بوجود طفل (12 عاماً) في حالة حرجة داخل منزل في مدينة كاسلفورد. وتم نقل الطفل إلى المستشفى، لكنه فارق الحياة لاحقاً.
ولا تزال التحقيقات جارية، دون وجود شبهة جنائية حتى الآن.
ويعرف التحدي أيضاً باسم «تحدي انقطاع النفس»، ويتضمن حبس النفس عمداً حتى فقدان الوعي. وقد يؤدي هذا السلوك إلى تلف دماغي أو وفاة، نتيجة نقص الأوكسجين.
ويعد هذا الحادث المفجع تذكيراً مؤلماً بالمخاطر التي تشكلها التحديات الخطيرة المنتشرة عبر الإنترنت، ويدعو أولياء الأمور والأوصياء إلى البقاء يقظين بشأن المحتوى الذي يتفاعل معه الشباب على وسائل التواصل.
وقالت عائلة الطفل سيباستيان إنه كان موهوباً ومحباً للفنون، وأكدت أن «لحظة واحدة على الإنترنت كانت كفيلة بتغيير كل شيء». ودعت العائلة إلى مراقبة المحتوى الذي يتعرض له الأطفال على المنصات الرقمية.
بحسب صحيفة «الإندبندنت»، سُجلت أكثر من 20 حالة وفاة لأطفال بسبب التحدي ذاته خلال 18 شهراً.
كما رفعت أربع عائلات أمريكية دعاوى قضائية ضد «تيك توك»، متهمة المنصة بالترويج لمحتوى خطير للأطفال عبر التوصيات.

The West Yorkshire Police announced that they received a report on Friday evening about a child (12 years old) in critical condition inside a home in Castleford. The child was taken to the hospital, but later passed away.
Investigations are still ongoing, with no criminal suspicion at this time.
The challenge is also known as the "choking game," and involves deliberately holding one’s breath until losing consciousness. This behavior can lead to brain damage or death due to a lack of oxygen.
This tragic incident serves as a painful reminder of the risks posed by dangerous challenges circulating online, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the content that young people interact with on social media.
Sebastian's family stated that he was talented and loved the arts, emphasizing that "a single moment online was enough to change everything." The family called for monitoring the content that children are exposed to on digital platforms.
According to the Independent newspaper, more than 20 deaths of children due to the same challenge have been recorded over the past 18 months.
Additionally, four American families have filed lawsuits against TikTok, accusing the platform of promoting dangerous content to children through recommendations.
