The English player of Al-Ahli, Ivan Toney, confirmed in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian that the Roshan Professional League is considered one of the strongest leagues in the world after the Premier League.
Toney pointed out that his team, Al-Ahli, would be able to compete among the top four if it participated in the "Premier League," given the presence of shining names and stars at the highest level. He added, "I faced a lot of criticism when I moved to Al-Ahli, but I didn't pay attention to it, as I was confident in the success of my experience, and today I am reaping the rewards after winning championships and scoring 35 goals in the team's jersey."
He continued, "Over time, my experience in Saudi Arabia has become special and rich, especially since I play alongside global stars like Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino, in addition to other stars that the Saudi league boasts."
Toney praised the large fan attendance in Saudi stadiums, emphasizing that the difference between the Saudi league and the Premier League is not vast, as there are players capable of competing in any global league.
Regarding his absence from the England national team list for the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Toney said, "My goal is clear, which is to return to represent my country."
Toney revealed that he wanted to tweet about Al-Hilal's victory over Manchester City, but he refrained from doing so for fear of facing backlash in England, explaining that this reflects the strength of the Saudi league and the high level it has reached.
He added, "What Cristiano Ronaldo said previously about the Saudi league is absolutely true; it is a high-quality league and should not be underestimated."
He concluded his statements by saying, "I will recommend players from my country to come to Saudi Arabia, as some of them have talked to me about the nature of the experience here, and I encourage them to take it on."
