وحقق نادي خيرات الماتي الكازخستاني مفاجأة مدوية ومن العيار الثقيل حيث نجح في الإطاحة ببطل أسكتلندا نادي سلتيك بضربات الترجيح بنتيجة 3-2 بعد نهاية المباراتين الأولى والثانية بالتعادل السلبي بين الفريقين ليحقق الفريق الكازخستاني مفاجأة مدوية. وتأهل بافوس القبرصي بعد تعادله مع النجم الأحمر الصربي 1-1 مستفيداً من تفوقه ذهاباً 2-1. وحسم بودو غليمت النروجي تأهله الى منافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا بالرغم من خسارته بمواجهة شتورم غراتس النمساوي 2-1 مستفيداً من تفوقه ذهاباً 5-0 ليحسم مجموع المباراتين لصالحه 6-2.
