تحتضن مدينة أبها منافسات النسخة الأولى من بطولة كأس الخليج تحت 20 عامًا 2025، وذلك خلال الفترة من 28 أغسطس الجاري حتى 10 سبتمبر القادم، بمشاركة 8 منتخبات هي: السعودية (المستضيف)، قطر، الكويت، اليمن، عمان، العراق، البحرين ومصر التي جاءت مشاركتها في البطولة بدعوة من اتحاد كأس الخليج العربي لكرة القدم.
ورحّب رئيس مجلس إدارة الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، ياسر المسحل، ببعثات المنتخبات المشاركة، مؤكدًا على أهمية البطولة في دعم الفئات السنية وتعزيز الروابط الرياضية بين دول المنطقة، متمنيًا لجميع الوفود إقامة طيبة ومشاركة ناجحة في بلدهم الثاني المملكة العربية السعودية.
وأُجريت قرعة البطولة مؤخرًا، حيث جاء المنتخب السعودي على رأس المجموعة الأولى إلى جانب منتخبات قطر، الكويت واليمن، فيما ضمّت المجموعة الثانية منتخبات عمان، العراق، البحرين ومصر، فيما يتأهل المتصدر والوصيف من كل مجموعة.
وتنطلق منافسات البطولة يوم الخميس 28 أغسطس الجاري، حيث يفتتح المنتخب السعودي مشواره بمواجهة نظيره اليمني عند الساعة 4:30 عصرًا على ملعب مدينة الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز الرياضية في المحالة.
وتُقام مباريات البطولة على ملعبي مدينة الأمير سلطان الرياضية ونادي ضمك، على أن تُقام مواجهتا نصف النهائي يوم الأحد 7 سبتمبر، فيما تُختتم البطولة بالمباراة النهائية يوم الأربعاء 10 سبتمبر.
وتُعد البطولة محطة مهمة لاكتشاف المواهب وصقل قدرات اللاعبين في الفئات السنية، وذلك ضمن إطار التحضيرات للاستحقاقات القارية والدولية القادمة لمنتخبات الشباب.

The city of Abha is hosting the first edition of the Gulf Cup U-20 Championship 2025, which will take place from August 28 to September 10, with the participation of 8 teams: Saudi Arabia (the host), Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Iraq, Bahrain, and Egypt, which is participating in the tournament by invitation from the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Mashal, welcomed the delegations of the participating teams, emphasizing the importance of the tournament in supporting youth categories and enhancing sports ties between the countries of the region, wishing all delegations a pleasant stay and a successful participation in their second homeland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The draw for the tournament was recently held, with the Saudi team placed at the top of Group A alongside the teams of Qatar, Kuwait, and Yemen, while Group B includes the teams of Oman, Iraq, Bahrain, and Egypt, with the top team and the runner-up from each group qualifying.
The tournament will kick off on Thursday, August 28, with the Saudi team beginning its journey by facing its Yemeni counterpart at 4:30 PM at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Al-Mahala.
The matches of the tournament will be held at the Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium and Damak Club, with the semi-final matches taking place on Sunday, September 7, while the tournament will conclude with the final match on Wednesday, September 10.
This tournament is an important opportunity to discover talents and refine the skills of players in the youth categories, as part of the preparations for upcoming continental and international competitions for youth teams.
