يلتقي المنتخب السعودي لكرة السلة مع نظيره العراقي اليوم (الأربعاء) ضمن منافسات الجولة الثانية من البطولة الودية الدولية 2025، والتي ينظمها الاتحاد القطري لكرة السلة على صالة لوسيل الرياضية، في إطار التحضيرات للنسخة الـ31 من بطولة كأس آسيا لكرة السلة المقررة في مدينة جدة خلال الفترة من الخامس إلى السابع عشر من أغسطس القادم.
ويسعى المنتخب السعودي لتقديم أداء مميز في هذه المواجهة، خصوصاً بعد خسارته في المباراة الافتتاحية أمام المنتخب القطري بنتيجة (82 - 78) في لقاء شهد ندية كبيرة، حيث انتهى الربع الأول بالتعادل (24 - 24)، قبل أن يتمكن المنتخب القطري من فرض أفضليته تدريجياً في الفترات التالية ويحسم اللقاء بفارق أربع نقاط.
من جهته، يواجه المنتخب القطري نظيره الياباني، في اختبار قوي أمام أحد أبرز المنتخبات الآسيوية المعروفة بأسلوب لعب سريع وفني، مما يتطلب جاهزية عالية من الجانب القطري لمواكبة نسق اللقاء.
وتضم البطولة أربعة منتخبات آسيوية هي السعودية وقطر واليابان والعراق، وتُقام بنظام دوري من دور واحد، حيث يهدف كل منتخب إلى تحقيق أفضل نتائج ممكنة استعداداً لكأس آسيا 2025 التي يشارك فيها 16 منتخباً.
وكانت قرعة البطولة القارية أوقعت المنتخب السعودي في المجموعة الثالثة إلى جانب منتخبات الصين والأردن والهند، فيما جاء المنتخب القطري في المجموعة الأولى إلى جانب أستراليا وكوريا الجنوبية ولبنان، وضمت المجموعة الثانية منتخبات غوام واليابان وسورية وإيران، بينما ضمت المجموعة الرابعة منتخبات الصين تايبيه ونيوزيلندا والعراق والفلبين.
وتُقام البطولة القارية وفق نظام المجموعات، حيث يتأهل أصحاب المركز الأول من كل مجموعة مباشرة إلى ربع النهائي، فيما تخوض المنتخبات صاحبة المركزين الثاني والثالث مباريات إقصائية بنظام «كروس» لتحديد بقية المتأهلين للدور ذاته.

The Saudi national basketball team meets its Iraqi counterpart today (Wednesday) as part of the second round of the 2025 International Friendly Championship, organized by the Qatari Basketball Federation at the Lusail Sports Hall, in preparation for the 31st edition of the Asian Basketball Championship scheduled to take place in Jeddah from August 5 to 17.
The Saudi team aims to deliver an outstanding performance in this match, especially after losing the opening game against the Qatari team with a score of (82 - 78) in a match that witnessed great competitiveness, as the first quarter ended in a tie (24 - 24), before the Qatari team gradually established its advantage in the following periods and secured the win by a margin of four points.
On the other hand, the Qatari team faces the Japanese team in a strong test against one of the most prominent Asian teams known for its fast and technical playing style, which requires high readiness from the Qatari side to keep up with the pace of the match.
The tournament includes four Asian teams: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Japan, and Iraq, and is held in a single round-robin format, where each team aims to achieve the best possible results in preparation for the 2025 Asian Cup, which will feature 16 teams.
The draw for the continental tournament placed the Saudi team in Group C alongside teams from China, Jordan, and India, while the Qatari team was placed in Group A alongside Australia, South Korea, and Lebanon. Group B includes teams from Guam, Japan, Syria, and Iran, while Group D consists of teams from Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Iraq, and the Philippines.
