أعلن 6 رؤساء لاتحادات عربية لكرة القدم دعمهم لرئيس الاتحاد الدولي (فيفا) جياني إنفانتينو بعد تعرضه لضغوط شديدة خلال الأيام الماضية ومحاولة الإطاحة به.
ضغوط بسبب المقترح
وكان إنفانتينو قد تعرض لانتقادات عنيفة من الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم والاتحاد الأوروبي واتحاد أمريكا الشمالية والوسطى والكاريبي (كونكاكاف)، بسبب مقترح مشروع «فيفا فوروارد إنتربرايز»، الذي كان يقضي ببيع حصص في كيان جديد تابع للاتحاد، بقيمة تُقدر بـ20 مليار دولار. ورغم تراجعه رسمياً عن المقترح، إلا أن استمراره في رئاسة «فيفا» مُهدد.
دعم عربي لإنفانتينو
وفي بيان مشترك، وقع عليه رئيس الاتحاد القطري الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني، ورئيس الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم هاني أبو ريدة، إلى جانب رؤساء اتحادات لبنان والمغرب والسودان وموريتانيا، جاء فيه: «إدراكاً للدور المحوري الذي تلعبه كرة القدم العربية في توحيد الشعوب وتعزيز التعاون بين الاتحادات الكروية في العالم العربي، نحن نعلن عن دعمنا الكامل للسيد جياني إنفانتينو، رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، ونؤكد ثقتنا في قيادته والتزامه المستمر بتطوير كرة القدم عالمياً».
إشادة بالجهود
وأضاف البيان: «نُثمن عالياً جهود السيد إنفانتينو المتواصلة للنهوض بكرة القدم عالمياً، وتوسيع الفرص في جميع المناطق، وتعزيز دورها في التقريب بين الشعوب والمجتمعات».
مستقبل أكثر قوة
واختتم: «نتطلع إلى مواصلة تعاوننا الوثيق معه نحو مستقبل أكثر قوة وازدهاراً لكرة القدم العالمية، وتوسيع الفرص، وتعزيز مساهمة كرة القدم العربية في اللعبة العالمية».
Six presidents of Arab football federations announced their support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino after he faced intense pressure in recent days and attempts to oust him.
Pressure Due to the Proposal
Infantino had faced fierce criticism from the Asian Football Confederation, the European Union, and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), due to the proposed "FIFA Forward Enterprise" project, which involved selling stakes in a new entity affiliated with the federation, valued at approximately 20 billion dollars. Although he officially retracted the proposal, his continued presidency of FIFA is under threat.
Arab Support for Infantino
In a joint statement signed by Qatari Football Association President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Egyptian Football Association President Hani Abu Rida, along with the presidents of the federations of Lebanon, Morocco, Sudan, and Mauritania, it stated: "Recognizing the pivotal role that Arab football plays in uniting peoples and enhancing cooperation among football federations in the Arab world, we announce our full support for Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), and we affirm our confidence in his leadership and ongoing commitment to the development of football globally."
Praise for Efforts
The statement added: "We highly appreciate Mr. Infantino's continuous efforts to advance football globally, expand opportunities in all regions, and enhance its role in bringing peoples and communities closer together."
A Stronger Future
It concluded: "We look forward to continuing our close cooperation with him towards a stronger and more prosperous future for global football, expanding opportunities, and enhancing the contribution of Arab football to the global game."
