في قرار غريب لكنه يعكس إيمان الأرجنتينيين العميق بـ«طقوس الحظ»، أعلن الرئيس الأرجنتيني خافيير ميلي أنه لن يتوجه إلى الولايات المتحدة لحضور نهائي كأس العالم 2026 أمام إسبانيا.
ميلي فضّل البقاء في مقر «أوليفوس» الرئاسي، ومتابعة المباراة عبر الشاشة كما فعل منذ انطلاق البطولة، قاطعاً بذلك أي احتمال لكسر «سلسلة انتصارات» منتخب بلاده.
وفي رد حاسم على سؤال إذاعة «إل أوبسرفادور» قال: «لا إطلاقاً لن أحضر وسأتابع من أوليفوس كما فعلت من اليوم الأول».
الرئيس اعترف أن الأمر يتعلق بـ«كابالا»، وسيشاهد النهائي من قاعة السينما داخل القصر برفقة شقيقته كارينا ميلي الأمينة العامة للرئاسة.
ولم يتوقف الأمر عند ذلك، إذ كشف ميلي «تعويذته» الجديدة «سترة» سميكة لشركة النفط الحكومية «واي بي إف» ارتداها في فوز الأرجنتين على سويسرا 3-1 في ربع النهائي.
إذ قال: «عندما خلعتها تلقينا هدفاً، فأعدتها فوراً ولم أخلعها منذ ذلك الحين».
In a strange decision that reflects the deep belief of Argentinians in "rituals of luck," Argentine President Javier Milei announced that he will not travel to the United States to attend the 2026 World Cup final against Spain.
Milei preferred to stay at the "Olivos" presidential residence and watch the match on screen as he has done since the tournament began, thus eliminating any possibility of breaking his country's "winning streak."
In a decisive response to a question from "El Observador" radio, he said: "No, I will not attend at all, and I will watch from Olivos as I have done since day one."
The president admitted that it is related to "kabbalah," and he will watch the final from the cinema hall inside the palace accompanied by his sister Karina Milei, the Secretary General of the Presidency.
And it didn't stop there, as Milei revealed his new "amulet," a thick "jacket" from the state oil company "YPF," which he wore during Argentina's 3-1 victory over Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
He said: "When I took it off, we conceded a goal, so I put it back on immediately and haven't taken it off since then."
