قرر رئيس النادي الأهلي المصري محمود الخطيب، عدم الترشح في الانتخابات القادمة، والاكتفاء بما قدمه للقلعة الحمراء خلال فترتين (8 سنوات).
وأبلغ الخطيب أعضاء مجلس إدارة النادي، عقب اجتماع عُقد أمس (الخميس)، أنه لن يخوض الانتخابات القادمة لأسباب صحية تستدعي حصوله على راحة تامة وابتعاده عن الضغوط.
ولم يتضح بعد ما إذا كان الخطيب سيستمر في أداء مهامه خلال الأسابيع القليلة المتبقية من فترته، أم سيغادر المنصب قبل ذلك، في ظل حالته الصحية.
في المقابل، يسعى مجلس الإدارة إلى ثني «يبو» عن قراره، ودفعه لخوض السباق الانتخابي، على أمل استمراره في قيادة النادي لتحقيق المزيد من الإنجازات في مختلف الألعاب الجماعية والفردية، وعلى رأسها كرة القدم.
ويُعد محمود الخطيب أحد أبرز رموز الكرة المصرية والعربية والأفريقية، ويحظى بشعبية جارفة داخل مصر وخارجها، بفضل مسيرته الأسطورية كلاعب وإداري، إلى جانب ما عُرف عنه من أخلاق رفيعة وتواضع.
The president of Al Ahly SC, Mahmoud El Khatib, has decided not to run in the upcoming elections, content with what he has contributed to the Red Castle over two terms (8 years).
El Khatib informed the club's board members, following a meeting held yesterday (Thursday), that he would not participate in the upcoming elections for health reasons that require him to take complete rest and distance himself from pressures.
It is still unclear whether El Khatib will continue to perform his duties during the few remaining weeks of his term, or if he will leave the position before that, given his health condition.
Meanwhile, the board of directors is trying to persuade "Yabo" to reconsider his decision and encourage him to enter the electoral race, hoping for his continued leadership of the club to achieve more accomplishments in various team and individual sports, especially football.
Mahmoud El Khatib is considered one of the most prominent figures in Egyptian, Arab, and African football, enjoying immense popularity both inside and outside Egypt, thanks to his legendary career as a player and administrator, along with his well-known high morals and humility.
