Al-Nasr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was keen to support Paris Saint-Germain star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after he suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee during the match against Barcelona yesterday (Tuesday) in the UEFA Champions League.
Kvaratskhelia posted a sad message on his Instagram account, saying: "I used to pray to God before every match to come off the pitch safe and sound, but my prayers were not answered. It hasn't been long, but the question still echoes in my mind: why me? I never spared any effort, in fact, I was probably more prepared for this match than ever before, I thought I was ready for everything, but I wasn't ready for this. Nevertheless, I realize that God has chosen me. And if this is to protect other players on the field, I am ready to endure the coming months filled with hard work, pain, and tears. I know I must come back stronger for those around me, who have always stood by my side. I won't let you down; I promise to give my all... Thank you all for your support, and see you soon."
Ronaldo: Your best is yet to come
Ronaldo responded to the Georgian star, saying: "Often, the toughest battles in football are the ones that no one sees. I know this feeling well, Kvara, but never forget what brought you here, and don’t let a tough moment make you doubt how far you can go. Keep the flame of enthusiasm inside you, for your best is yet to come."
A long absence awaits the Paris star
Typically, anterior cruciate ligament injuries require a recovery period of no less than six months, which is a painful blow for Kvaratskhelia and his team, Paris Saint-Germain.
