حذّر رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، اليوم (الأحد)، إيران من أن أي هجوم على إسرائيل، سواء بشكل مباشر أو عبر وكلاء، سيقابل برد عسكري قوي للغاية.
وقال نتنياهو لشبكة «فوكس نيوز»: «إذا هاجمت إيران إسرائيل، سواء مباشرة أو عبر وكلاء، بصواريخ باليستية أو طائرات مسيّرة أو مسيّرات قاتلة، فإنها سترتكب خطأ فادحاً»، مضيفاً: «سيكون رد إسرائيل قوياً جداً جداً».
وأشار نتنياهو إلى أن على إيران في نهاية المطاف إنهاء برنامجها النووي، باتفاق أو دون اتفاق، معرباً في الوقت نفسه عن دعمه لجهود الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لحل الصراع دون العودة إلى قتال مكثف.
وزعم رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي أن الضربات الأمريكية الإسرائيلية أعادت البرنامج النووي الإيراني إلى الوراء عدة سنوات، لكنه حذر من أن طهران قد تحاول إعادة بناء قدراتها.
وأوضح نتنياهو أن الحرب ستنتهي عندما يسقط النظام الإيراني أو يتم إضعافه ليدرك ضرورة إنهاء برنامجه النووي.
ومن المقرر أن يلتقي نتنياهو في البيت الأبيض الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب (الثلاثاء). وقال نتنياهو سأسافر غداً إلى واشنطن للقاء الرئيس دونالد ترمب وسأتحدث معه بشأن كل الملفات ومن ضمنها إيران.
من جهته، قال السفير الأمريكي لدى الأمم المتحدة للشبكة ذاتها إن الرئيس دونالد ترمب يمنح فرصة للمسار الدبلوماسي مع إيران.
ونقلت وكالة أسوشيتد برس عن مسؤول إقليمي قوله إن الولايات المتحدة وإيران ترغبان في العودة إلى اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار المؤقت، مبينة أن هناك حلاً وسطاً يجري التفاوض عليه حالياً يتمحور حول السماح لإيران بتسيير حركة السفن عبر مضيق هرمز مع تخفيف القيود المفروضة على السفن.
وأضاف أن هناك جهوداً دبلوماسية مكثفة جارية، معتبراً أن وقف الضربات الأمريكية والردود الإيرانية على الدول المجاورة يُعد إشارة إيجابية تدعم جهود خفض التصعيد.
في الوقت ذاته، نقلت شبكة «سي بي إس نيوز» الأمريكية عن مصادر قولها إن المحادثات بين عُمان وإيران بشأن إعادة فتح مضيق هرمز تشهد تقدماً.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran today (Sunday) that any attack on Israel, whether directly or through proxies, will be met with an extremely strong military response.
Netanyahu told Fox News: "If Iran attacks Israel, whether directly or through proxies, with ballistic missiles or drones or killer drones, it will make a grave mistake," adding: "Israel's response will be very, very strong."
Netanyahu indicated that Iran must ultimately end its nuclear program, whether through an agreement or without one, while expressing his support for U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the conflict without returning to intense fighting.
The Israeli Prime Minister claimed that U.S.-Israeli strikes have pushed back the Iranian nuclear program by several years, but he warned that Tehran might attempt to rebuild its capabilities.
Netanyahu clarified that the war will end when the Iranian regime falls or is weakened enough to realize the necessity of ending its nuclear program.
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. Netanyahu said, "I will travel tomorrow to Washington to meet with President Donald Trump, and I will discuss with him all the files, including Iran."
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations told the same network that President Donald Trump is providing an opportunity for a diplomatic path with Iran.
The Associated Press reported that a regional official stated that the United States and Iran are interested in returning to a temporary ceasefire agreement, indicating that a compromise is currently being negotiated that revolves around allowing Iran to operate shipping through the Strait of Hormuz while easing restrictions on vessels.
He added that intensive diplomatic efforts are underway, considering that the cessation of U.S. strikes and Iranian responses to neighboring countries is a positive signal supporting de-escalation efforts.
At the same time, CBS News reported from sources that talks between Oman and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are making progress.
