أكدت وسائل إعلام سودانية مقتل القيادي في قوات الدعم السريع الحاج حسين الملقب بـ«البوص»، وهو قائد المجموعة 142 بمحور رهيد النوبة، ويعد من أكثر القادة تأثيراً وقوة في شمال كردفان.
وأعلن الجيش السوداني استعادة السيطرة على مدن بارا وجبرة الشيخ وأم سيالة بولاية شمال كردفان، عقب عمليات عسكرية قال إنها أسفرت عن تكبيد قوات الدعم السريع «خسائر في الأرواح والعتاد».
وقال المتحدث باسم القوات المسلحة في بيان إن قوات الدعم السريع انسحبت من المناطق المستهدفة، تاركةً خلفها أسلحة وآليات.
وتكتسب مدينة بارا أهمية خاصة كونها ثاني أكبر مدن شمال كردفان، وتقع على الطريق الرابط بين الأبيض عاصمة ولاية شمال كردفان وإقليم دارفور، ما يجعلها مركزاً مهماً لحركة الإمدادات العسكرية والتجارية.
وتقع أجبرة الشيخ وأم سيالة شرق وشمال شرق الولاية على طرق الحركة بين شمال كردفان وولاية الخرطوم، وهو ما يمنحهما أهمية في تأمين ظهر القوات المتقدمة نحو الغرب أو العاصمة.
واندلعت الحرب بين الجيش وقوات الدعم السريع في أبريل 2023، وأسفرت حتى الآن عن مقتل عشرات الآلاف، وتشريد الملايين في ما تصفها الأمم المتحدة بأنها أكبر أزمة إنسانية في العالم.
ونشرت قوات الدعم السريع تعزيزات عسكرية حول مدينة الأبيض عاصمة شمال كردفان، ورفعت من وتيرة الهجمات الجوية، في وقت حذرت الأمم المتحدة ومنظمات إنسانية من هجوم وشيك على غرار الفاشر نهاية العام الماضي، والذي أكد خبراء الأمم المتحدة أنه حمل سمات الإبادة الجماعية.
Sudanese media confirmed the death of the Rapid Support Forces leader, Haj Hussein, nicknamed "Al-Bous," who was the commander of Group 142 in the Reheid Al-Nuba axis, and is considered one of the most influential and powerful leaders in North Kordofan.
The Sudanese army announced the restoration of control over the cities of Bara, Jabrat Al-Sheikh, and Um Sayala in North Kordofan, following military operations that it claimed resulted in significant "losses in lives and equipment" for the Rapid Support Forces.
The spokesperson for the armed forces stated in a statement that the Rapid Support Forces withdrew from the targeted areas, leaving behind weapons and vehicles.
The city of Bara holds particular importance as it is the second largest city in North Kordofan, located on the road connecting Al-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, to the Darfur region, making it a crucial center for military and commercial supply movements.
Jabrat Al-Sheikh and Um Sayala are located to the east and northeast of the state along the routes connecting North Kordofan and Khartoum, which gives them significance in securing the rear of the advancing forces towards the west or the capital.
The war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023, resulting so far in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of millions in what the United Nations describes as the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.
The Rapid Support Forces have deployed military reinforcements around Al-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, and have increased the frequency of air attacks, while the United Nations and humanitarian organizations have warned of an imminent assault similar to the one in Al-Fasher at the end of last year, which UN experts confirmed bore the hallmarks of genocide.
