أعلنت قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان (اليونيفيل) أن قواتها تواجه قيوداً تحد من حرية حركتها، مؤكدةً أنها تواصل مراقبة الأوضاع في جنوب لبنان.
وقالت اليونيفيل، في بيان: «تواصل قوات حفظ السلام التابعة لليونيفيل وجودها على الأرض لمراقبة الوضع ورفع تقارير عن الانتهاكات التي ترصدها، بما يتماشى مع ولايتنا بموجب قرار مجلس الأمن الدولي رقم 1701»، مضيفة: «لا يزال حفظة السلام يواجهون قيوداً تحد من حرية حركتهم، بما في ذلك إغلاق الطرق بسبب الحواجز والأنقاض وعوائق أخرى، ما يؤدي إلى تعليق الدوريات الأساسية والعمليات المتعلقة بالسلامة بصورة مؤقتة».
وأشارت إلى أنه، رغم هذه التحديات، تواصل اليونيفيل تسهيل وصول المساعدات الإنسانية، فيما يبقى حفظة السلام التابعون لها في مواقعهم، ملتزمين بدعم الاستقرار في جنوب لبنان.
وكانت قوات اليونيفيل قد أُنشئت بموجب قراري مجلس الأمن الدولي 425 و426، الصادرين في 19 مارس 1978، لتأكيد الانسحاب الإسرائيلي من لبنان، واستعادة السلام والأمن الدوليين، ومساعدة الحكومة اللبنانية على بسط سلطتها الفعلية في المنطقة.
وعقب حرب 2006، عزز مجلس الأمن، بموجب القرار 1701، مهمات اليونيفيل، وكلفها بمهمات إضافية من خلال العمل بتنسيق وثيق مع القوات المسلحة اللبنانية في جنوب لبنان.
وفي 28 أغسطس الماضي، تبنى مجلس الأمن قراراً يقضي بتمديد ولاية اليونيفيل للمرة الأخيرة حتى 31 ديسمبر 2026، على أن يبدأ خفض قوامها وانسحابها بصورة منظمة وآمنة اعتباراً من ذلك التاريخ، وعلى مدى عام واحد.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that its forces are facing restrictions that limit their freedom of movement, confirming that they continue to monitor the situation in southern Lebanon.
UNIFIL stated in a statement: "The peacekeeping forces of UNIFIL continue their presence on the ground to monitor the situation and report on the violations they observe, in line with our mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701," adding: "Peacekeepers still face restrictions that limit their freedom of movement, including road closures due to barriers, debris, and other obstacles, which temporarily suspends essential patrols and safety-related operations."
It noted that, despite these challenges, UNIFIL continues to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, while its peacekeepers remain in their positions, committed to supporting stability in southern Lebanon.
UNIFIL was established under United Nations Security Council Resolutions 425 and 426, issued on March 19, 1978, to confirm the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, restore international peace and security, and assist the Lebanese government in exercising its effective authority in the region.
Following the 2006 war, the Security Council enhanced UNIFIL's mandate under Resolution 1701, assigning it additional tasks by working in close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces in southern Lebanon.
On August 28, the Security Council adopted a resolution to extend UNIFIL's mandate for the last time until December 31, 2026, with a planned gradual and safe reduction of its personnel and withdrawal starting from that date, over the course of one year.
