أعلنت حكومة طالبان في أفغانستان أنها شنت غارات جوية على أراضٍ باكستانية، فيما أكدت إسلام أباد أن قواتها اعترضت أربع طائرات مسيرة بدائية وأسقطتها في إقليم بلوشستان الجنوبي الغني بالموارد.
وتمثّل اشتباكات أمس (الثلاثاء) أحدث حلقة في سلسلة مواجهات بين الجارتين في جنوب آسيا.
وأفادت وزارة الدفاع في أفغانستان بأن قواتها نفذت غارات جوية على ما وصفته بأنه مركز لتنظيم داعش في بلدة سارانان بإقليم بلوشستان على حدود باكستان، إضافة إلى مواقع أخرى في إقليم خيبر بختون خوا.
من جانبه، أعلن الجيش الباكستاني في بيان أنه رصد الطائرات المسيرة على الفور وتعامل معها بإسقاطها. وأكدت السلطات وقوع هجوم بطائرات مسيرة، وقالت إن طائرة مسيرة شوهدت قرب مدرسة حكومية في سارانان. وأفاد مسؤولون بإصابة شخصين.
وأظهرت بيانات للمعهد الدولي للدراسات الاستراتيجية ومقره لندن أن أفغانستان لا تمتلك أي طائرات مقاتلة، لكن من المعروف أن لديها ما لا يقل عن ست طائرات و23 طائرة هليكوبتر. ومن المعروف أيضاً أن قوات طالبان تمتلك طائرات مسيرة استخدمتها في القتال مع باكستان.
وتتهم باكستان أفغانستان بإيواء مسلحين تقول إنهم يخططون لشن هجمات على أراضيها. وتنفي حكومة طالبان الأفغانية هذه الاتهامات، قائلة إن التمرد مشكلة داخلية في باكستان.
وقتل 28 مدنياً على الأقل وأصيب 49 آخرون في غارات جوية شنتها باكستان الإثنين على مناطق حدودية مع أفغانستان، وقالت إسلام أباد إن الضربات رد على «هجمات إرهابية» وقعت على أراضيها.
وأودى الصراع بين الحليفين السابقين، اللذين تحولا إلى خصمين، بحياة مئات الأشخاص هذا العام، ولم تثمر حتى الآن جهود الوساطة التي تقودها الصين لتخفيف حدة التوتر عن نتائج.
The Taliban government in Afghanistan announced that it has carried out airstrikes on Pakistani territory, while Islamabad confirmed that its forces intercepted four primitive drones and shot them down in the resource-rich southern Balochistan province.
Yesterday's (Tuesday) clashes represent the latest episode in a series of confrontations between the two neighboring countries in South Asia.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense reported that its forces conducted airstrikes on what it described as an ISIS center in the town of Saranan in Balochistan near the Pakistan border, in addition to other sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
For its part, the Pakistani army announced in a statement that it immediately detected the drones and dealt with them by shooting them down. Authorities confirmed that a drone attack occurred, stating that a drone was spotted near a government school in Saranan. Officials reported that two people were injured.
Data from the International Institute for Strategic Studies based in London showed that Afghanistan does not possess any fighter jets, but it is known to have at least six planes and 23 helicopters. It is also known that Taliban forces possess drones that they have used in combat against Pakistan.
Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of harboring militants whom it claims are planning attacks on its territory. The Afghan Taliban government denies these accusations, stating that the insurgency is an internal problem in Pakistan.
At least 28 civilians were killed and 49 others injured in airstrikes carried out by Pakistan on Monday in border areas with Afghanistan, with Islamabad stating that the strikes were a response to "terrorist attacks" that occurred on its territory.
The conflict between the former allies, who have turned into adversaries, has claimed the lives of hundreds of people this year, and efforts for mediation led by China to ease tensions have yet to yield results.
