طلب رئيس وزراء باكستان شهباز شريف اليوم (الثلاثاء) من الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تمديد مهلة إيران لمدة أسبوعين، كما طلب من طهران فتح مضيق هرمز خلال المدة ذاتها «كبادرة حسن نية».
وقال رئيس وزراء باكستان: «أحث جميع الأطراف المتحاربة على وقف إطلاق النار لمدة أسبوعين لإفساح المجال أمام الدبلوماسية لإنهاء الحرب نهائياً»، مضيفاً: «الجهود الدبلوماسية للتوصل إلى تسوية سلمية للحرب الدائرة في الشرق الأوسط تتقدم بثبات».
وقال مندوب إيران لدى الأمم المتحدة إن المبعوث الشخصي للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش في الطريق إلى طهران لإجراء مشاورات، فيما قال مسؤول إيراني، لوكالة «رويترز»، إن تبادل الرسائل مع أمريكا لا يزال مستمراً عبر وسطاء.وأوضح المسؤول أن إيران تبحث بشكل إيجابي طلب باكستان وقف النار لأسبوعين.
في حين قال مسؤول في البيت الأبيض لموقع «إكسيوس»: أن ترمب سيدصر رداً لاحقاً بشأن مبادرة باكستان حول إيران.
وكان موقع «أكسيوس» الأمريكي، قد نقل عن مسؤول أمريكي وآخر إسرائيلي ومصدرين مطلعين قولهم، إن المفاوضات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران تشير إلى بوادر تقدم خلال الساعات الـ24 الماضية.
وأوضحوا أن التوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار قبل انتهاء مهلة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب عند الساعة الثامنة مساءً بتوقيت الساحل الشرقي الأمريكي لا يزال مستبعداً.
وقال مسؤول أمريكي إن التفكير داخل البيت الأبيض تحوّل من هل يمكننا الوصول إلى اتفاق؟ إلى هل يمكننا الوصول إليه بحلول الثامنة مساءً؟
في المقابل، قال نائب الرئيس الإيراني محمد رضا عارف إن بلاده مستعدة لجميع الاحتمالات، فيما طالب رئيس القضاء الإيراني بتسريع إصدار أحكام بالإعدام بحق المعارضين.
من جهة أخرى، أعلنت وزارة الداخلية القطرية أن مستوى التهديد الأمني مرتفع ودعت الجميع إلى الالتزام بالبقاء في المنازل والأماكن الآمنة.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, today (Tuesday) requested U.S. President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for Iran by two weeks, and he also asked Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz during the same period "as a gesture of goodwill."
The Prime Minister of Pakistan stated: "I urge all warring parties to declare a ceasefire for two weeks to allow diplomacy to end the war once and for all," adding: "Diplomatic efforts to reach a peaceful settlement to the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily."
The Iranian representative to the United Nations said that the personal envoy of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is on his way to Tehran for consultations, while an Iranian official told Reuters that the exchange of messages with the U.S. is still ongoing through intermediaries. The official clarified that Iran is positively considering Pakistan's request for a two-week ceasefire.
Meanwhile, a White House official told Axios that Trump will issue a response later regarding Pakistan's initiative on Iran.
The American site Axios reported that an American official, an Israeli official, and two informed sources stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran indicate signs of progress over the past 24 hours.
They clarified that reaching a ceasefire agreement before the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump at 8 PM Eastern Time remains unlikely.
An American official stated that the thinking within the White House has shifted from whether we can reach an agreement? to whether we can reach it by 8 PM?
In contrast, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stated that his country is prepared for all possibilities, while the head of the Iranian judiciary called for expediting the issuance of death sentences against opponents.
On another note, the Qatari Ministry of Interior announced that the level of security threat is high and urged everyone to adhere to staying at home and in safe places.
