تخطط إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لعقد اجتماع مع مسؤولين تنفيذيين من كبرى شركات تصنيع السلاح، اليوم (الجمعة).
وذكرت وكالة «رويترز»، أن الاجتماع يهدف إلى مناقشة تسريع إنتاج الأسلحة، لتجديد المخزونات التي استُنفدت بسبب الحرب على إيران، مضيفة أن الاجتماع سيضم مسؤولين تنفيذيين من شركتي لوكهيد مارتن وآر تي إكس.
ويعكس الاجتماع الحاجة الملحة والمتزايدة في واشنطن لإعادة بناء مخزونات الأسلحة، وفقا لما نقلته «رويترز» عن أشخاص مطلعين على الخطط.
وأفادت الوكالة أن الاجتماع المزمع عقده في البيت الأبيض قد يتزامن مع طلب ميزانية تكميلية تبلغ قيمتها نحو 50 مليار دولار لتمويل استبدال الأسلحة، ولفتت إلى ارتفاع الطلب على أنظمة الدفاع الجوي، مؤكدة أن هذا الرقم قد يتغير اعتمادا على مدة العمليات في الشرق الأوسط.
وتحدثت عن تباين في الكلفة بين الجانبين، ففي حين تنتج طهران أكثر من 5 آلاف مسيرة شهريا، تبلغ تكلفة الواحدة منها نحو 50 ألف دولار فقط، فإن تكلفة الصواريخ الاعتراضية التي يستخدمها الجيش الأمريكي تبلغ نحو 4 ملايين لكل صاروخ «باتريوت» و12.8 مليون دولار للصاروخ الواحد من طراز «ثاد».
وكشف مسؤول في الكونغرس الأمريكي، أمس (الخميس)، أن التقديرات الأولية لتكلفة الحرب المستمرة ضد إيران، بحسب وزارة الحرب الأمريكية (البنتاغون)، تصل إلى مليار دولار يوميا، وفقا لما نقلته صحيفة «ذي أتلانتيك».
وأفادت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال»، بأن الحملة العسكرية التي يشنها ترمب على إيران لا تزال في بداياتها، ولفتت إلى تأكيدات الرئيس ترمب أن أمريكا لديها «مخزون جيد» من الذخائر «الأكثر تطورا»، لكنه لا يستطيع الكشف عنها في وقت باتت فيه الحاجة للمزيد من ذخائر الدفاع الجوي ضرورة ملحّة.
ودعت الصحيفة ترمب إلى رفع مستوى خطوط إنتاج الأسلحة الأمريكية، وقالت إن وزارة الحرب تعمل على توسيع إنتاج أنظمة الدفاع الأساسية، بما في ذلك صواريخ باتريوت المتقدمة ومنظومة صواريخ «ثاد» الاعتراضية.
وأقرت «وول ستريت جورنال» بأن الطائرات الإيرانية المُسيّرة، تشكّل تحديات جديدة للدفاع الجوي، وتتطلب صواريخ اعتراضية مناسبة من حيث كلفة الإنتاج، ما يعني أيضا ضرورة زيادة الميزانيات.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to hold a meeting with executives from major arms manufacturing companies today (Friday).
Reuters reported that the meeting aims to discuss accelerating weapons production to replenish stockpiles that have been depleted due to the war on Iran, adding that the meeting will include executives from Lockheed Martin and RTX.
The meeting reflects the urgent and increasing need in Washington to rebuild weapons stockpiles, according to what Reuters reported from sources familiar with the plans.
The agency stated that the planned meeting at the White House may coincide with a supplemental budget request amounting to about $50 billion to fund the replacement of weapons, noting the rising demand for air defense systems, and emphasized that this figure may change depending on the duration of operations in the Middle East.
It mentioned the disparity in costs between the two sides; while Tehran produces more than 5,000 drones monthly, each costing about $50,000, the cost of the interceptors used by the U.S. military is about $4 million for each "Patriot" missile and $12.8 million for each "THAAD" missile.
An official in the U.S. Congress revealed yesterday (Thursday) that preliminary estimates for the ongoing war against Iran, according to the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon), reach $1 billion per day, according to what was reported by The Atlantic.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump's military campaign against Iran is still in its early stages, noting President Trump's assurances that America has a "good stockpile" of "the most advanced" munitions, but he cannot disclose them at a time when the need for more air defense munitions is urgent.
The newspaper urged Trump to ramp up U.S. weapons production lines, stating that the Department of Defense is working to expand the production of essential defense systems, including advanced Patriot missiles and the THAAD interceptor missile system.
The Wall Street Journal acknowledged that Iranian drones pose new challenges for air defense and require interceptors that are cost-effective, which also means an increase in budgets is necessary.
