The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the government to immediately announce a new social protection package aimed at supporting the most vulnerable and low-income groups, to be implemented before the start of the holy month, in a move that reflects the state's commitment to alleviating the living burdens on citizens as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches.

This came during a meeting held by El-Sisi with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, where he was briefed on the details of the new package that focuses on providing direct cash support to those eligible to assist them during Ramadan and the blessed Eid al-Fitr.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the presidency, confirmed that the president emphasized the necessity of announcing the package and starting its implementation immediately, ensuring that it takes the form of cash support that reaches the targeted groups directly, to enhance their ability to cope with living costs during the holy month.

The president also stressed the importance of disbursing the salaries for the current month of February to state employees during this week and before Ramadan, as a measure to facilitate meeting the needs of Egyptian families in advance.

The meeting witnessed El-Sisi's approval to provide additional financial allocations to complete the projects of the first phase of the "Decent Life" initiative, focusing on creating job opportunities for the most needy groups, and supporting the health sector by providing medical treatment, improving healthcare services, treating critical cases, reducing waiting lists, and accelerating the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system, discussing increasing the incomes of state employees, and the proposed package of facilities and tax reforms for the fiscal year 2026/2027, including simplifying the tax system and property tax, and modifying customs tariffs to support national industry, encourage investment, and reduce smuggling.

This package comes as part of a series of consecutive social protection measures launched by the Egyptian state in recent years to address global and local economic challenges, such as the "Takaful and Karama" and "Decent Life" programs, with a focus on direct support for low-income families and the most vulnerable groups.

The Egyptian Cabinet announced that Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly will hold a press conference tomorrow, Sunday, to announce the precise details of the package, including the amount of cash support and the eligible groups.
