قبيل اجتماع في باريس يحضره ممثلون عن السعودية والولايات المتحدة وفرنسا، ناقش قائد الجيش اللبناني رودولف هيكل، اليوم (الخميس)، مع رئيس أركان الجيش الفرنسي فابيان ماندون، البيئة الإستراتيجية والتحديات الأمنية في لبنان والمنطقة.
وكتب ماندون على منصة «X»: يحافظ الجيشان الفرنسي واللبناني على تعاون تاريخي يتجلى في مجالات التدريب والقدرات والتدريب المشترك، موضحاً أن وجود الجيش الفرنسي إلى جانب نظيره اللبناني يهدف إلى تحقيق هدف مشترك يتمثل في المساهمة في الحفاظ على الاستقرار والسلام الدائم، مع احترام سيادة لبنان.

ويأتي الاجتماع قبل أيام من انعقاد مؤتمر لدعم الجيش اللبناني في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس يهدف إلى توفير تمويل للجيش ومهماته في حفظ الأمن.
ويناقش قائد الجيش اللبناني في فرنسا مهمات الجيش وضبط الحدود، ومكافحة الإرهاب، والحرب على المخدرات، ومهمات حفظ الأمن ومكافحة الجريمة المنظمة، كما سيعرض تفاصيل إضافية بشأن المرحلة الأولى من خطة الجيش اللبناني لحصر السلاح، والتي بدأت في منطقة جنوب الليطاني، مع التشديد على التزام الجيش بتنفيذ القرار 1701، واتفاق وقف الأعمال العدائية.
وكان دبلوماسيون غربيون قد أكدوا أن الولايات المتحدة وفرنسا ستجريان محادثات مع قائد الجيش اللبناني، اليوم، في باريس بهدف وضع اللمسات الأخيرة على خارطة طريق لتفعيل آلية لنزع سلاح «حزب الله».
Ahead of a meeting in Paris attended by representatives from Saudi Arabia, the United States, and France, Lebanese Army Commander Rudolf Haikal discussed today (Thursday) with French Chief of Staff Fabien Mandon the strategic environment and security challenges in Lebanon and the region.
Mandon wrote on the platform "X": The French and Lebanese armies maintain a historic cooperation reflected in areas of training, capabilities, and joint exercises, explaining that the presence of the French army alongside its Lebanese counterpart aims to achieve a common goal of contributing to the maintenance of stability and lasting peace, while respecting Lebanon's sovereignty.

The meeting comes days before a conference to support the Lebanese army in the French capital, Paris, aimed at providing funding for the army and its missions in maintaining security.
The Lebanese Army Commander in France will discuss the army's missions and border control, combating terrorism, the war on drugs, security maintenance tasks, and fighting organized crime. He will also present additional details regarding the first phase of the Lebanese army's plan to control weapons, which began in the area south of the Litani River, emphasizing the army's commitment to implementing Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement.
Western diplomats have confirmed that the United States and France will hold talks with the Lebanese Army Commander today in Paris to finalize a roadmap for activating a mechanism to disarm "Hezbollah".
