فرض الاتحاد الأوروبي، اليوم (الخميس)، عقوبات على 41 سفينة إضافية ضمن ما يعرف باسم «أسطول الظل» الروسي لناقلات النفط، ليصل إجمالي عدد السفن المدرجة على قائمة العقوبات إلى نحو 600.
وأعلن مجلس الاتحاد الأوروبي في بيان، أن هذه السفن تضاف إلى قائمة السفن الخاضعة لحظر دخول الموانئ وحظر تقديم مجموعة واسعة من الخدمات المتعلقة بالنقل البحري، وذلك في ضوء الحرب الروسية الأوكرانية المستمرة منذ نحو أربع سنوات، مبيناً أن الغرض من هذا الإجراء هو استهداف ناقلات النفط غير التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي التي تتحايل على آلية تحديد سقف لأسعار النفط، أو تدعم قطاع الطاقة الروسي، أو السفن المسؤولة عن نقل معدات عسكرية إلى روسيا أو المشاركة في نقل حبوب أوكرانية مسروقة.
وأكد المجلس أن الاتحاد الأوروبي لا يزال على أهبة الاستعداد لتكثيف الضغط على روسيا بما في ذلك فرض المزيد من العقوبات.
في الوقت ذاته، أظهر إشعار حكومي صدر، اليوم، أن بريطانيا فرضت عقوبات على 24 فرداً وكياناً في إطار نظام العقوبات على روسيا، بما شمل شركتي النفط الروسيتين تاتنفت وروسنفت.
يذكر أن مصطلح «أسطول الظل» يستخدم للإشارة إلى ناقلات النفط القديمة المخفية للتغلب على العقوبات الغربية المفروضة على موسكو منذ الحرب بين روسيا وأوكرانيا في عام 2022.
وكانت وكالة (بلومبيرغ) قد نقلت عن مصادر مطلعة أن الولايات المتحدة تستعد لفرض حزمة جديدة من العقوبات على قطاع الطاقة الروسي لتكثيف الضغط على موسكو في حال رفض الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين اتفاق السلام مع أوكرانيا.
وكان الكرملين، قد حذر أمس من فرض عقوبات أمريكية محتملة على روسيا، معتبراً أنه يضر بالتحسن في العلاقات مع واشنطن.
The European Union imposed sanctions today (Thursday) on 41 additional ships as part of what is known as the Russian "shadow fleet" for oil tankers, bringing the total number of ships listed under sanctions to nearly 600.
The European Council announced in a statement that these ships are added to the list of vessels subject to a ban on entering ports and a ban on providing a wide range of maritime transport-related services, in light of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war that has lasted for nearly four years. It clarified that the purpose of this measure is to target non-EU oil tankers that circumvent the price cap mechanism for oil, support the Russian energy sector, or are responsible for transporting military equipment to Russia or participating in the transport of stolen Ukrainian grain.
The Council confirmed that the European Union remains on high alert to intensify pressure on Russia, including the imposition of further sanctions.
At the same time, a government notice issued today showed that Britain has imposed sanctions on 24 individuals and entities as part of its sanctions regime against Russia, including the Russian oil companies Tatneft and Rosneft.
It is worth noting that the term "shadow fleet" is used to refer to old oil tankers that are concealed to circumvent the Western sanctions imposed on Moscow since the war between Russia and Ukraine in 2022.
Bloomberg reported, citing informed sources, that the United States is preparing to impose a new package of sanctions on the Russian energy sector to intensify pressure on Moscow in the event that Russian President Vladimir Putin rejects a peace agreement with Ukraine.
The Kremlin warned yesterday of potential U.S. sanctions against Russia, considering them detrimental to the improvement of relations with Washington.
