I fear that the union will recreate the scene of 2023 when it won the league championship. Amid the celebrations and joyful nights of achieving the toughest title, the competing teams were working to strengthen their ranks and making various contracts, while the union members were satisfied with the league title without taking action to enhance the team for the upcoming season, keeping the same players (Ahmed Hegazi, who was suffering from a cruciate ligament injury, and Coronado, who had nothing left to offer, and the same applies to Romarinho and the defender Philp, who is always absent due to injury, in addition to Tarek Hamed, Hamdallah, and Bruno Henrique, led by the Portuguese coach Nuno Santo). Thus, the new season began without changes, adding Karim Benzema, the best player in the world, among a group of finished players. A disaster occurred, and the union appeared very weak technically, unable to keep up with competitors or even mid-level and smaller teams. Coach Nuno Santo was replaced, but it was too late, and the poor situation continued until the end of the season, not to mention the damaging appearance of Saudi football in the Club World Cup.
Today, history is repeating itself. With the achievement of the league and cup titles, the union has not seriously moved to bolster the team with foreign or local players, while we see Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, and Al-Qadisiyah contracting with new foreign and local players, strengthening their teams for the new season.
Yes, the union won two titles with the current players, but it still needs a striker alongside or as a substitute for Benzema in case of his absence. The union still needs full-backs alongside Al-Shanqiti and Metai, and a competent goalkeeper in light of Raikovic's injury.
Despite my reservations about Fabinho and Aouar, which is a personal opinion, it would have been better to look for more dynamic and active foreign players than them.
The first official tournaments will kick off soon with the Super Cup, where the technically exposed union will face its renewed opponent Al-Nassr, led by Jesus, who has added an important element, Joao Silva, and Barcelona's defender Martinez, and is still working on other distinguished players.
All these changes are in favor of Al-Nassr, which is full of vitality and ambition, unlike the union, which is saturated with two titles at the end of the season.
The union, as we have known it, is strong and tenacious with its fans, but the union members fear for their team from the very players who achieved the league and cup titles.
And there is more to discuss...
