كشف القضاء العراقي، عن دوافع وتفاصيل جريمة اغتيال المرشح للانتخابات النيابية، صفاء المشهداني.
وأكد مجلس القضاء العراقي، أن حادثة مقتل عضو مجلس محافظة بغداد صفاء المشهداني تحمل طابعاً جنائياً مرتبطاً بالتنافس الانتخابي بين أبناء المنطقة الواحدة. وأعلن القبض على متهمين اثنين اعترفا بتنفيذ الجريمة.
وأفادت محكمة تحقيق الكرخ الأولى في بيان، أمس الخميس، بأن التحقيقات كشفت اشتراك اثنين من المتهمين اعترفا بارتكابهما الجريمة، وثبت دورهما الرئيس في تنفيذ الحادثة من خلال الأدلة الفنية وتحليل تسجيلات كاميرات المراقبة.
وقال قاضي محكمة التحقيق المختص، إن التحقيقات أثبتت أن الحادث ذات طابع جنائي مرتبط بالتنافس الانتخابي بين أبناء المنطقة الواحدة.
وكانت وزارة الداخلية العراقية، أعلنت القبض على 5 متهمين بتورطهم في اغتيال المشهداني، الذي كان مرشحاً ضمن «تحالف السيادة».
وجرت عملية الاغتيال فجر يوم 15 أكتوبر الحالي، أثناء جولة ميدانية للمشهداني في الطارمية، شمال العاصمة بغداد، ليصبح هذا الاغتيال الأول في انتخابات البرلمان العراقي التي ستجرى في 11 من شهر نوفمبر 2025.
يذكر أن «تحالف السيادة» يعتبر من الأحزاب السنية المهمة التي تخوض الانتخابات، ويتزعم الحزب خميس الخنجر، ورئيس البرلمان الحالي، محمود المشهداني.
وشهد العراق خلال السنوات الماضية العديد من الاغتيالات وعمليات الخطف التي طالت ناشطين مدنيين، وصحفيين وسياسيين، بعضهم من معارضي الفصائل المسلحة.

The Iraqi Judicial Council confirmed that the incident of the murder of Baghdad Provincial Council member Safaa Al-Mashhadani has a criminal nature linked to electoral competition among the residents of the same area. Two suspects have been arrested, and they confessed to committing the crime.
The First Karkh Investigation Court stated in a statement yesterday, Thursday, that investigations revealed the involvement of two suspects who confessed to committing the crime, and their primary role in executing the incident was established through technical evidence and analysis of surveillance camera recordings.
The investigating judge stated that the investigations proved that the incident has a criminal nature related to electoral competition among the residents of the same area.
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of five suspects involved in the assassination of Al-Mashhadani, who was a candidate within the "Sovereignty Alliance."
The assassination took place in the early hours of October 15, during a field tour by Al-Mashhadani in Tarmiya, north of the capital Baghdad, making this the first assassination in the Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, 2025.
It is noteworthy that the "Sovereignty Alliance" is considered one of the important Sunni parties participating in the elections, led by Khamis Al-Khanjar and the current Speaker of Parliament, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani.
Iraq has witnessed many assassinations and kidnapping operations in recent years targeting civil activists, journalists, and politicians, some of whom are opponents of armed factions.
