بعد تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب التي ألمح فيها عبر مقابلة في مجلة تايم، إلى إمكانية إطلاق سراح القيادي في حركة فتح مروان البرغوثي المعتقل في السجون الإسرائيلية منذ عام 2002، دعت فدوى البرغوثي، زوجة مروان البرغوثي، الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب إلى العمل من أجل إطلاق سراح زوجها.
سلام عادل ودائم
وقالت فدوى البرغوثي في بيان لمجلة تايم: «السيد الرئيس، هناك شريك حقيقي بانتظارك — شخص يمكنه أن يساعد في تحقيق الحلم المشترك بسلام عادل ودائم في المنطقة. من أجل حرية الشعب الفلسطيني وسلام الأجيال القادمة، ساعد في الإفراج عن مروان البرغوثي».
جاءت تلك الرسالة بعدما علق ترمب خلال مقابلة مع المجلة نشرت أمس (الخميس)، عندما سُئل عما إذا كان سيدعم الإفراج عن البرغوثي، بالقول «لقد وجه إلي هذا السؤال حرفيًا قبل نحو 15 دقيقة..»، مردفاً سأتخذ قرارًا بشأن ذلك، دون أن يورد أي تفاصيل أخرى.
23 عاما في المعتقل
يذكر أن البرغوثي البالغ من العمر 66 عاماً، معتقل في السجون الإسرائيلية منذ عام 2002، وصدر بحقه حكم في عام 2004 بالسجن خمسة مؤبدات لدوره في هجمات خلال الانتفاضة الثانية التي أعقبت انهيار اتفاقية أوسلو لعام 1993.
كما أدانته إسرائيل بالمسؤولية عن هجمات وتفجيرات أسفرت عن مقتل خمسة أشخاص، لكنه نفى تورطه ورفض الدفاع عن نفسه، قائلاً إنه لا يعترف بشرعية المحكمة الإسرائيلية.
وكان البرغوثي في السابق أحد المشاركين البارزين في عملية السلام في أوسلو، ولا يزال يشكل اسماً جامعاً للعديد من الفلسطينيين.
قائمة الأسرى
وورد اسمه ضمن قائمة الأسرى الذين سعت حماس إلى إدراجهم في مفاوضات تبادل الأسرى، مع إسرائيل، إلا أن الأخيرة رفضت ذلك.
يأتي هذا فيما يواجه ترمب، الذي نُسب إليه الفضل في التوسط لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة بعد سنتين من الحرب، مهمة معقدة تكمن في وضع إطار لحكم غزة بعد الحرب.

Just and Lasting Peace
Fadwa Barghouti said in a statement to Time magazine: “Mr. President, there is a true partner waiting for you — someone who can help achieve the shared dream of a just and lasting peace in the region. For the freedom of the Palestinian people and the peace of future generations, help release Marwan Barghouti.”
This message came after Trump commented during an interview with the magazine published yesterday (Thursday), when asked if he would support Barghouti's release, saying, “I was literally asked this question about 15 minutes ago...,” adding that he would make a decision regarding that, without providing any further details.
23 Years in Detention
It is worth noting that Barghouti, who is 66 years old, has been imprisoned in Israeli jails since 2002, and in 2004 he was sentenced to five life terms for his role in attacks during the second intifada that followed the collapse of the Oslo Accords in 1993.
Israel also convicted him of responsibility for attacks and bombings that resulted in the deaths of five people, but he denied his involvement and refused to defend himself, stating that he does not recognize the legitimacy of the Israeli court.
Barghouti was previously one of the prominent participants in the Oslo peace process and remains a unifying figure for many Palestinians.
List of Prisoners
His name was included in the list of prisoners that Hamas sought to include in negotiations for a prisoner exchange with Israel, but the latter rejected this.
This comes as Trump, who has been credited with mediating a ceasefire in Gaza after two years of war, faces a complex task of establishing a framework for governance in Gaza post-war.
