In a deliberate provocative step, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards today (Wednesday), under heavy protection from Israeli forces.
The Palestinian news agency "Wafa" reported that settlers, led by Ben Gvir, invaded the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from the direction of the Mughrabi Gate, carried out "provocative tours," and performed Talmudic rituals, coinciding with the second day of the "Hebrew Feast of Tabernacles."
It mentioned that the settlers carried plant offerings in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem as part of their religious rituals to commemorate what is called the "Hebrew Feast of Tabernacles."
The agency accused the "occupation authorities of exploiting Jewish holidays to escalate tensions in the city of Jerusalem by justifying incursions, closing off the holy city and isolating it from its surroundings, turning it into a military barracks, preventing our people from entering it, suppressing worshippers and defenders, assaulting them, and providing full protection to the settlers to desecrate the place and perform their Talmudic rituals, imposing their presence inside the mosque."
Israel has imposed strict measures around the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and its gates, deploying extensive reinforcements of its forces and police to secure the incursions of the settlers.
It is noteworthy that the far-right minister Ben Gvir has repeatedly entered, sometimes accompanied by settlers, into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. His visits are met with denunciations from Palestinians and Arab countries, especially since he is known for his extremist positions and provocative actions, violating the status quo by performing prayers in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first of the two qiblas and the third holiest site for Muslims.
