Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian conditioned the return of dialogue and negotiations between Iran and Western powers on the lifting of sanctions imposed on his country.
Bezhakian said in an interview with the American channel "NBC," reported by the Tasnim International News Agency: "We have announced that we are in no way seeking to develop nuclear weapons... They want to tell the world that we are moving towards nuclear weapons; this is completely wrong. We are ready for any kind of verification in this regard."
Regarding whether Iran would allow all UN inspectors to visit all the nuclear facilities that were bombed, the Iranian president stated that these matters were raised in the discussions, and it was planned to halt the implementation of the (snapback mechanism) so that they could come for a visit, considering that the problem is that they did not accept that dialogue and want to continue down the path of the (snapback mechanism).
Referring to the Europeans' request for Iran to negotiate with the United States, and whether any negotiations or talks had taken place with the Americans, Bezhakian said: "It was planned for our foreign minister to sit down with the Americans, but beforehand, they had set a condition that we accept their terms before starting the dialogue. When we are required in advance to accept what they say, the dialogue loses its meaning, and for this reason, no negotiations have taken place."
He added: "We in Iran are ready to welcome American investments and lift the sanctions, and then we can sit down to negotiate."
Regarding whether Iran is explicitly announcing a halt to any further enrichment of uranium and any steps towards nuclear weapons development in order to negotiate with the United States, the Iranian president responded by saying: "Certainly, this is what we will do. We do not intend to move towards nuclear weapons, and when we say that, it means we are ready to cooperate within all international frameworks for verification."
