Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari vowed today (Sunday) to terrorists, drug gangs, and tribal disputes, declaring an open war, confirming the death of 4 members of the Federal Police and the injury of 9 due to what he described as a treacherous attack that targeted them while performing their duty to resolve an armed tribal dispute and protect the lives of citizens in Baghdad.
The law above all
The Iraqi News Agency "INA" reported the Interior Minister as saying: "Their blood is on our necks, and it will not go in vain," noting that he directed the continuation of security operations until all those involved in this attack are arrested to receive their just punishment and face retribution.
He added: "Terrorism, drugs, and tribal disputes today represent a serious threat to societal peace, and they are heinous criminal methods that are equally dangerous to one another. We have declared and we declare again that our war against these scourges is an open war with no compromise or leniency, and the law will remain above all," pointing out that anyone who raises arms against the state or attacks its men will face deterrent and decisive measures.
We will strike with an iron fist
He indicated that he will strike with an iron fist against anyone who attempts to tamper with Iraq's security and the dignity of its institutions, emphasizing that the ministry fully bears its responsibilities in this confrontation.
Al-Shammari called on all dignitaries and tribes to stand with their security forces and reject these heinous acts, explaining that the battle against these scourges is a shared national battle that the state cannot win alone.
