فكّكت الشرطة الإسبانية اليوم (الإثنين) شبكة إجرامية يُشتبه في تهريبها مهاجرين، غالبيتهم من اليمن، إلى بريطانيا وكندا باستخدام جوازات سفر مزورة، ووفقاً للشرطة الإسبانية فإن المهاجرين كانوا يحصلون أولاً على صفة لاجئ في اليونان قبل أن يسافروا إلى مطارات أوروبية ويتسلمون وثائق سفر مزيفة من أفراد الشبكة، تتيح لهم مواصلة طريقهم إلى الوجهات النهائية.
ونفذت الشبكة أكثر من 40 عملية تهريب، وفرضت على كل مهاجر رسوماً تصل إلى ثلاثة آلاف يورو.
وأبلغت السلطات الكندية نظيرتها الإسبانية بمحاولات متكررة لمواطنين يمنيين لدخول أراضيها عبر مطارات إسبانية باستخدام جوازات سفر مزورة، وخلال عمليات مداهمة في مدريد وشمال إسبانيا، أوقفت قوات الأمن 11 شخصاً يُشتبه في انتمائهم إلى الشبكة، بينهم زعيمها المفترض.
وذكرت الشرطة أن التحقيق الذي بدأ في سبتمبر، استند إلى تتبع حجوزات الطيران والتحويلات المالية والمدفوعات عبر بطاقات الائتمان، إلى جانب مراجعة لقطات كاميرات المراقبة في المطارات وتصاريح السفر الإلكترونية.
وشاركت في التحقيق أجهزة أمنية من النمسا وفنلندا وألمانيا وإيرلندا وسويسرا والمملكة المتحدة، فيما تولت وكالة الاتحاد الأوروبي للتعاون في مجال إنفاذ القانون «يوروبول» تحليل بيانات هواتف المشتبه بهم.
يذكر أن عشرات الشباب اليمنيين قضوا في البحر أثناء التهريب إلى إيطالياً واليونان وبريطانيا طوال السنوات الماضية.

The Spanish police dismantled a criminal network today (Monday) suspected of smuggling migrants, mostly from Yemen, to Britain and Canada using forged passports. According to the Spanish police, the migrants first obtained refugee status in Greece before traveling to European airports and receiving fake travel documents from members of the network, allowing them to continue their journey to their final destinations.
The network carried out more than 40 smuggling operations, charging each migrant fees of up to three thousand euros.
Canadian authorities informed their Spanish counterparts about repeated attempts by Yemeni citizens to enter its territory through Spanish airports using forged passports. During raids in Madrid and northern Spain, security forces arrested 11 individuals suspected of belonging to the network, including its alleged leader.
The police stated that the investigation, which began in September, was based on tracking flight bookings, financial transfers, and credit card payments, along with reviewing surveillance footage from airports and electronic travel permits.
Security agencies from Austria, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom participated in the investigation, while the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation "Europol" analyzed data from the suspects' phones.
It is worth mentioning that dozens of young Yemenis have died at sea while being smuggled to Italy, Greece, and Britain over the past years.
