Lebanese people today (Monday) commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Beirut port explosion, which claimed the lives of more than 157 people and injured over 5,000 others, in addition to a large number of missing persons.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed the continued pressure to bring all those responsible for the crime of the Beirut port explosion to justice, regardless of their positions or affiliations.

Aoun added: "On this painful day, August 4, we remember together the fifth anniversary of the Beirut port explosion, that great crime that shook the conscience of the nation and the world, claiming the lives of more than 200 martyrs, injuring thousands of innocents, and destroying entire neighborhoods of our beloved capital."
He pointed out that after five years have passed since this tragedy, we stand before the souls of the martyrs and the injured and their families, and before all Lebanese, to affirm that justice will not die, and that accountability is inevitable.
He confirmed that he pledged to the Lebanese people since taking on his constitutional responsibilities that holding those responsible for this great crime accountable would be a top priority, and that no one who contributed through negligence, failure, or corruption to this humanitarian disaster would escape punishment.
