أكد وزير الخارجية الفرنسي جان نويل بارو اليوم (الاثنين) أنه «مع دخول الأمم المتحدة عامها الثمانين لا يمكن أن نرضى باستهداف الأطفال والنساء وهم يتوجهون للحصول على المساعدات الإنسانية في غزة».
وقال بارو في كلمته بافتتاح مؤتمر حل الدولتين لتسوية القضية الفلسطينية في نيويورك إن المؤتمر يجب أن يكون نقطة تحول لتنفيذ حل الدولتين، مضيفاً: «علينا أن نعمل للوصول إلى سبل للانتقال من منطقة حرب في غزة إلى تحقيق السلام».
وشدد على أن حل الدولتين هو المسار الوحيد ليعيش الفلسطينيون في سلام وأمن، ولا بديل لذلك، مؤكداً على ضرورة الانتقال من نهاية الحرب على غزة إلى إنهاء النزاع الإسرائيلي الفلسطيني.
وأضاف: «أطلقنا زخماً لا يمكن إيقافه من أجل الوصول لحل سياسي في الشرق الأوسط»، مبيناً أن النزاع الحالي والحرب والمعاناة يجب أن تتوقف ويجب البدء بوقف إطلاق نار دائم في غزة.
وكان وزير الخارجية الفرنسي جان نويل بارو قد قال في تصريح لصحيفة «لا تريبيون ديمانش» الفرنسية قبيل انطلاق المؤتمر إنه سيستغل المؤتمر لحث مزيد من الدول على الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين، في خطوة تتماشى مع إعلان الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون الأسبوع الماضي عن نية باريس الاعتراف رسمياً بفلسطين خلال اجتماع الجمعية العامة في سبتمبر القادم.
وأضاف بارو: «سندعو من نيويورك إلى مسار أكثر طموحاً يصل ذروته في 21 سبتمبر».
وانطلقت في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، اليوم (الإثنين)، أعمال «المؤتمر الدولي لتسوية القضية الفلسطينية بالطرق السلمية وتنفيذ حل الدولتين»، برئاسة مشتركة سعودية-فرنسية.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot confirmed today (Monday) that "as the United Nations enters its eightieth year, we cannot accept the targeting of children and women as they seek humanitarian aid in Gaza."
Barrot stated in his speech at the opening of the Two-State Solution Conference for resolving the Palestinian issue in New York that the conference should be a turning point for implementing the two-state solution, adding: "We must work to find ways to transition from a war zone in Gaza to achieving peace."
He emphasized that the two-state solution is the only path for Palestinians to live in peace and security, and there is no alternative to it, stressing the need to transition from the end of the war in Gaza to ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He added: "We have launched an unstoppable momentum to reach a political solution in the Middle East," indicating that the current conflict, war, and suffering must stop, and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza must begin.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot had stated in a statement to the French newspaper "La Tribune Dimanche" prior to the conference that he would use the conference to urge more countries to recognize the State of Palestine, in a move that aligns with French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement last week of Paris's intention to officially recognize Palestine during the General Assembly meeting next September.
Barrot added: "We will call from New York for a more ambitious path that peaks on September 21."
The "International Conference for the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue and Implementation of the Two-State Solution" commenced today (Monday) at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France.
