لقي 17 شخصاً في كوريا الجنوبية، اليوم (الأحد)، مصرعهم جراء انهيارات أرضية ناجمة عن الأمطار الغزيرة المستمرة منذ الأربعاء، مما دفع بأكثر من 13200 شخص إلى إخلاء منازلهم.
وأمر الرئيس الكوري الجنوبي لي جيه ميونج بإجراء تقييم سريع للأضرار وتحديد المناطق المنكوبة على وجه السرعة لزيادة دعم الدولة. وبحسب وسائل إعلام كورية جنوبية، فإن شخصين لقيا حتفهما، واعتبر 5 آخرون في عداد المفقودين في مدينة جابيونج في كوريا الجنوبية، جراء انهيار أرضي وسيول جرفت سيارات وسط موجة من الأمطار الغزيرة.
وذكرت سلطات الطوارئ أن انهياراً أرضياً ضرب موقع تخييم في جابيونج، مما أسفر، بحسب سلطات الطوارئ، عن مصرع رجل في الأربعينات من عمره، وفقد اثنين من أفراد أسرته، كما تقطعت السبل بـ24 آخرين، مبينة أنه تم إنقاذ شخص بالقرب من موقع التخييم عبر نهر تتدفق فيه المياه بقوة، في حين شوهدت طائرة مروحية تنقل شخصاً آخر إلى بر الأمان.
وتوقعت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الحكومية توقف الأمطار اليوم ويعقبها موجة حارة، مبينة أن الأمطار الغزيرة التي هطلت في وقت سابق على مناطق في جنوب البلاد تحركت نحو الشمال أثناء الليل.
ونقلت هيئة الإذاعة الكورية (كيه بي إس) عن المقر المركزي لتدابير مكافحة الكوارث والسلامة الكوري، قوله إنه تم تسجيل 8 قتلى، من أصل 14 قتيلاً جراء الأمطار الغزيرة، في مقاطعة سانتشونج الواقعة جنوب شرقي البلاد والتي تعد الأكثر تأثراً بالأمطار التي تشهدها البلاد منذ الأربعاء الماضي، و12 مفقوداً في مقاطعات جابيونج وجيونجي وسانتشونج وجيونجسانج الجنوبية.
وقالت تقارير إن 3800 شخص لم يتمكنوا من العودة إلى منازلهم حتى الآن، كما تسببت الأمطار بأضرار مادية في أكثر من 1900 مرفق عام كالطرق والسدود، وفي نحو 2200 منشأة خاصة.
وحذرت السلطات الكورية الجنوبية السكان من خطر وقوع انهيارات أرضية، خصوصاً في مقاطعات جيونجي، وتشنجتشونج، وجيونجسانج، وجولا.
Seventeen people in South Korea lost their lives today (Sunday) due to landslides caused by heavy rains that have been ongoing since Wednesday, prompting more than 13,200 people to evacuate their homes.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered a rapid assessment of the damage and the swift identification of affected areas to increase state support. According to South Korean media, two people have died, and five others are considered missing in the city of Jangpyeong due to a landslide and floods that swept away vehicles amid a wave of heavy rain.
Emergency authorities reported that a landslide struck a camping site in Jangpyeong, resulting, according to emergency services, in the death of a man in his forties, with two family members missing, while 24 others were stranded. It was noted that one person was rescued near the camping site from a river with strong currents, while a helicopter was seen transporting another person to safety.
The government meteorological agency predicted that the rain would stop today, followed by a heatwave, indicating that the heavy rains that earlier fell on areas in the south of the country moved northward during the night.
The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) reported that the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters stated that eight fatalities have been recorded, out of a total of 14 deaths due to the heavy rains, in the Sancheong County located in the southeast of the country, which has been the most affected by the rains since last Wednesday, along with 12 missing persons in the counties of Jangpyeong, Gyeonggi, Sancheong, and South Gyeongsang.
Reports indicated that 3,800 people have been unable to return to their homes so far, while the rains have caused material damage to more than 1,900 public facilities such as roads and dams, and about 2,200 private establishments.
South Korean authorities warned residents of the risk of landslides, particularly in the provinces of Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, and Jeolla.
