كشف وزير الخارجية المصري بدر عبدالعاطي، أنه يجري العمل على اتفاق مرتقب لوقف إطلاق النار في قطاع غزة يتضمن هدنة 60 يوماً على أمل الانتقال إلى مرحلة تالية، على أن يُعقد مؤتمر إعادة إعمار غزة، خلال أسابيع من وقف إطلاق النار.
وأوضح أن هناك تفهماً من الولايات المتحدة لأهمية أن يتضمن أي اتفاق قادم بشأن غزة، ضمانات لاستدامة وقف إطلاق النار.
وفي تصريحات نقلتها وسائل إعلام مصرية، وجه عبدالعاطي اتهامات حادة لإسرائيل، مؤكداً أنها خرقت اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار الذي تم التوصل إليه في 19 يناير 2025، واستأنفت «العدوان على القطاع دون مبرر».
وأضاف أن هذا الخرق يعرقل الجهود الرامية لتحقيق الاستقرار، محذراً من أن أي استئناف إسرائيلي للهجوم على غزة بعد اتفاق جديد سيكون «مصدراً رئيسياً للتهديد وعدم الاستقرار في المنطقة».
وقال إن مصر تنظر إلى علاقتها مع إسرائيل من منظور معاهدة السلام التي تربط بين الجانبين.
وأضاف أن كل الشواهد تؤكد أن هناك حرصاً متبادلاً على الالتزام بمعاهدة السلام مع إسرائيل.
وأكد أن مصر حريصة على المعاهدة وتنفيذ كل الالتزامات بموجبها، وبالتالي يلتزم الجانب الإسرائيلي بالمعاهدة.
وأشار إلى أن التوتر الشديد واستمرار المذابح والجرائم ضد الشعب الفلسطيني ليس فقط في غزة، لكن أيضاً الضفة الغربية من همجية وأعمال إجرامية يرتكبها المستوطنون، كلها تلقي بظلال سلبية على مسار العلاقات.
وعما إذا كانت يد إسرائيل الباطشة التي تتوسع في انتهاكاتها في المنطقة تمثل مصدر قلق لمصر، قال الوزير: «مصر دولة كبيرة وقوية وقادرة على حماية حدودها وأمنها القومي ضد أي تهديد أياً كان مصدره».
وأشار إلى أن مصر لديها مؤسسات قوية وقوات مسلحة تضمن أمن الحدود، لافتاً إلى أن أي تهديد للأمن القومي المصري من أي اتجاه فإن الجيش يؤدي دوره الوطني بالتنسيق مع كل مؤسسات الدولة في الدفاع عن أمن الوطن.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty revealed that work is underway on a forthcoming agreement for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which includes a 60-day truce with the hope of moving to the next phase, with a conference for the reconstruction of Gaza to be held within weeks of the ceasefire.
He explained that there is an understanding from the United States regarding the importance of including guarantees for the sustainability of the ceasefire in any forthcoming agreement concerning Gaza.
In statements reported by Egyptian media, Abdel-Aty leveled sharp accusations against Israel, asserting that it violated the ceasefire agreement reached on January 19, 2025, and resumed "aggression against the sector without justification."
He added that this violation hinders efforts aimed at achieving stability, warning that any Israeli resumption of attacks on Gaza after a new agreement would be "a major source of threat and instability in the region."
He stated that Egypt views its relationship with Israel through the lens of the peace treaty that binds the two sides.
He added that all evidence confirms a mutual commitment to adhere to the peace treaty with Israel.
He affirmed that Egypt is keen on the treaty and on fulfilling all obligations under it, and thus the Israeli side is committed to the treaty.
He pointed out that the severe tension and the ongoing massacres and crimes against the Palestinian people are not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank, where barbaric acts and crimes are committed by settlers, all of which cast negative shadows on the course of relations.
Regarding whether Israel's oppressive hand, which is expanding its violations in the region, represents a source of concern for Egypt, the minister said: "Egypt is a large and strong country capable of protecting its borders and national security against any threat, regardless of its source."
He noted that Egypt has strong institutions and armed forces that ensure border security, emphasizing that any threat to Egyptian national security from any direction will see the army fulfilling its national role in coordination with all state institutions in defending the homeland's security.
