The Israeli army announced today (Tuesday) the assassination of the new Iranian Chief of Staff, Ali Shadmani, who was appointed just days ago as the commander of the central "Quds" headquarters affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, succeeding Gholam Rashid, who was also assassinated by Israel in an airstrike.

The Israeli army stated in a statement that Shadmani held the position of Chief of War Staff and is considered the highest military leader in the Iranian regime and a military advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He was assassinated, according to the Israeli army's statement, in an airstrike carried out by the air force in central Tehran.

Shadmani was appointed last Friday to his position by a decision from Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, following the assassination of Gholam Ali Rashid, in the first of the Israeli attacks on Tehran.

The Supreme Leader tasked Shadmani with "strategic and operational planning and guidance to confront threats, and the precise assessment of the readiness of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while adopting an approach of coordination and integration with the General Staff of the armed forces."

Shadmani previously served as the Deputy Commander of the Emergency Command and headed the Operations Department in the Iranian General Staff. The Israeli army reported that Shadmani played a pivotal role in coordinating missile launches and drone attacks against Israeli targets.

Israeli Channel 24 quoted Israeli officials describing the operation as part of a broader strategy to disrupt Iran's ability to launch coordinated attacks.

Israel launched Operation Rising Lion with a surprise attack in the early hours of Friday morning, resulting in the assassination of several senior Iranian military leaders and causing damage to nuclear sites.

Since the start of the war, Israel has assassinated many senior leaders in the Iranian army, including Chief of Staff Mohammad Baqeri, Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami, the commander of the "Quds" air defense headquarters, and the commander of the aerospace forces in the Revolutionary Guard, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, while the Israeli targeting of political figures was limited to the advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Shamkhani.

News agency "Tasnim" reported that the head of intelligence in the Revolutionary Guard, Mohammad Kazemi, and his deputy were killed in Israeli attacks on Tehran on Sunday.

An Israeli official revealed that the list of targets in Iran remains long and refrained from specifying how long the strikes would continue.
