أعلنت الشرطة الهندية اليوم (الخميس) سقوط طائرة من طراز «بوينغ 8-787» قرب مطار أحمد أباد بعد دقائق على إقلاعها، مؤكدة أن الطائرة كان على متنها ما لا يقل عن 242 شخصاً.
وذكرت الشرطة الهندية أن طائرة تابعة للخطوط الجوية الهندية تحطمت في مطار مدينة أحمد أباد غرب الهند، فيما قال مصدر في قطاع الطيران إن الطائرة كانت متجهة إلى برمنغهام والحادثة وقعت عند الإقلاع.
وقالت السلطات الهندي إن الطائرة المنكوبة كان على متنها 53 بريطانياً و7 برتغاليين وكندي و169 هندياً.
وأشارت وسائل إعلام هندية إلى أن طائرة الركاب تابعة لشركة «إير إنديا» وسقطت في منطقة سكنية قرب مطار أحمد أباد في الهند، مبينة أن الطائرة تحطمت بعد دقائق من إقلاعها من مطار سردار فالهالبهاي باتيل الدولي في أحمد أباد بولاية غوجارات غرب الهند.
وأظهرت لقطات من موقع الحادثة تصاعد أعمدة كثيفة من الدخان فوق المطار. وتشير المعلومات الأولية إلى أن الطائرة سقطت بالقرب من منطقة ميغانيناغار في أحمد أباد، فيما تؤكد الشرطة أن التحقيق في أسباب الحادثة وعمليات البحث والإنقاذ في الموقع جارية.

Indian media indicated that the passenger plane belonged to Air India and fell in a residential area near Ahmedabad Airport, noting that the aircraft crashed just minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, western India.
Footage from the accident site showed thick columns of smoke rising above the airport. Preliminary information suggests that the plane fell near the Meghaninagar area in Ahmedabad, while the police confirmed that an investigation into the causes of the incident and search and rescue operations at the site are ongoing.
