شدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب على أن لوس أنجلوس بكاملها كانت تحترق، في إشارة منه إلى التطورات الأخيرة التي تشهدها المدينة بسبب الاحتجاجات ضد إجراءات مكافحة الهجرة غير الشرعية، معتبرا الأحداث التي تشهدها لوس أنجلوس «اجتياحًا أجنبيًا» يهدد سيادة بلاده.
وكان سيد «البيت الأبيض»، الذي دفع بمشاة البحرية (المارينز)، والحرس الوطني إلى ثاني أكبر المدن الأمريكية، يتحدث إلى جنود في قاعدة فورت براغ في نورث كارولاينا التي وصل إليها احتفالا بالذكرى السنوية لتأسيس الجيش الأمريكي.
وفي خطابه، (الثلاثاء)، قال ترمب: «لن نسمح باجتياح مدينة أمريكية واحتلالها من قبل أعداء أجانب»، في إشارة إلى الاحتجاجات التي اندلعت على خلفية عمليات دهم تنفّذها سلطات الهجرة.
وتابع: «ما تشهدونه في كاليفورنيا هو هجوم شامل على السلم والنظام العام والسيادة الوطنية، ينفذه مثيرو شغب يرفعون أعلامًا أجنبية بهدف مواصلة اجتياح أجنبي لبلدنا». ورأى ترمب أن على أوروبا فعل شيء ما بشأن الهجرة غير المنضبطة.
وأكد أن العلم الأمريكي هو الوحيد الذي سيرفرف فوق لوس أنجلوس، وأن قوات الأمن ستتخلص من العنف وستعيد الأمن والقانون.
أيضا شدد على أن العصابات لن تنجح في لوس أنجلوس، وأنه لن يسمح باحتراق المدينة، معلناً أنه لديه تفويض من الشعب لاستعادة الحدود السيادية الأمريكية.
كذلك أوضح أن مثيري الشغب في كاليفورنيا خرجوا من السجون من كافة أنحاء العالم، متهما الرئيس الأمريكي السابق جو بايدن بأنه من سمح بتدفق مهاجرين ورجال عصابات إلى أمريكا.
وتعهد بأنه لن يسمح بما أسماه غزو كاليفورنيا من مهاجري العالم الثالث، وأنه سيكتشف من يمول محتجين في كاليفورنيا.
يذكر أن لوس أنجلوس تشهد منذ 6 يونيو مظاهرات ضد إجراءات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لمكافحة الهجرة غير الشرعية.
كما امتدت الاحتجاجات إلى مدينتي دلاس وأوستن في ولاية تكساس، قبل أن تنحسر.
فيما أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية، الإثنين، أن ترمب أمر بإرسال ألفي عنصر إضافي من الحرس الوطني للتصدي للاحتجاجات الجارية في لوس أنجلوس.
U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that all of Los Angeles was burning, referring to the recent developments in the city due to protests against illegal immigration measures, considering the events in Los Angeles as a "foreign invasion" threatening his country's sovereignty.
The White House chief, who deployed Marines and the National Guard to the second largest U.S. city, was speaking to soldiers at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he arrived to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army.
In his speech on Tuesday, Trump said, "We will not allow a foreign invasion to occupy an American city," referring to the protests that erupted following immigration raids carried out by authorities.
He continued, "What you are witnessing in California is a full-scale assault on peace, public order, and national sovereignty, executed by rioters waving foreign flags with the aim of continuing a foreign invasion of our country." Trump believed that Europe needs to do something about uncontrolled immigration.
He affirmed that the American flag is the only one that will fly over Los Angeles, and that security forces will eliminate violence and restore law and order.
He also stressed that gangs will not succeed in Los Angeles, and that he will not allow the city to burn, declaring that he has a mandate from the people to reclaim U.S. sovereign borders.
He clarified that the rioters in California came out of prisons from all over the world, accusing former U.S. President Joe Biden of allowing the influx of immigrants and gang members into America.
He vowed that he would not allow what he called an invasion of California by third-world migrants, and that he would find out who is funding protesters in California.
It is worth noting that Los Angeles has been witnessing protests against President Donald Trump's measures to combat illegal immigration since June 6.
The protests also spread to the cities of Dallas and Austin in Texas before subsiding.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defense announced on Monday that Trump ordered the deployment of an additional 2,000 National Guard members to address the ongoing protests in Los Angeles.
