A visit by a delegation of Arab foreign ministers to the occupied West Bank, scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday), has been postponed. A statement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (Saturday) said: "Members of the ministerial committee tasked by the extraordinary joint Arab Islamic summit regarding Gaza will arrive in Amman this evening for a visit that aimed to hold a coordinating meeting prior to a visit that was scheduled to Ramallah departing from Amman tomorrow, Sunday."

It added that the committee decided to postpone the visit to Ramallah in light of Israel's obstruction by refusing to allow the delegation to enter through the airspace of the occupied West Bank, which is controlled by Israel.

According to the statement, the ministerial delegation includes: the head of the committee, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani, Egypt's Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Atti, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, who will meet with his counterparts this evening and tomorrow.

The delegation affirmed in a joint position that Israel's decision to prevent the delegation from visiting Ramallah and meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian officials represents a blatant violation of Israel's obligations as the occupying power, reflecting the extent of the Israeli government's arrogance, its disregard for international law, and its continuation of illegal measures and policies that besiege the Palestinian people and their legitimate leadership, entrench the occupation, and undermine the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
