The organization of the National Institute for Health Research, which was recently approved by the Council of Ministers, ensures that the institute's practice in the specialty related to identifying fields and programs of research in the area of translational research and clinical trials in health is in agreement with the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority.
The institute enjoys public legal personality and financial and administrative independence, with its main headquarters located in Riyadh, and it has the authority to establish branches as needed.
The institute aims to contribute to improving human health, well-being, and quality of life, funding translational research and clinical trials in health, ensuring the quality and efficiency of their outputs, and transforming the results of translational research and clinical trials in health into health and economic benefits, including investing in coordination with relevant entities, and contributing to unifying the efforts of stakeholders in translational research and clinical trials in health.
The National Institute for Health Research is the entity responsible for overseeing and supporting translational research and clinical trials in health, and it has the authority—without prejudice to the competencies and responsibilities of other entities—to do everything necessary to achieve its objectives, including working to identify fields and programs for research, development, and innovation in translational research and clinical trials in health.
