احتفل العالم، اليوم (السبت)، باليوم العالمي للتوعية بالنسور الذي يوافق أول سبت من شهر سبتمبر من كل عام؛ ويهدف إلى إبراز الدور البيئي الحيوي لهذه الطيور الجارحة في المحافظة على صحة النظم الطبيعية، وتأكيد أهمية حمايتها من المهددات التي تواجهها في مختلف أنحاء العالم.
وتشارك أكثر من 100 منظمة من 43 دولة في هذه المناسبة، لتسليط الضوء على التراجع العالمي في أعداد النسور نتيجة مخاطر متعددة مثل التسمم، وفقدان الموائل الطبيعية، والقتل غير المشروع.

الأهمية البيئية للنسور
وتبرز الأهمية البيئية للنسور في دورها المحوري بالتخلص من بقايا الحيوانات النافقة، ما يسهم في الحد من انتشار الأمراض والأوبئة، ويحافظ على نظافة البيئة وصحة المجتمعات، الأمر الذي يجعلها ركيزة أساسية في استدامة التوازن البيئي.
جهود المملكة لحماية النسور
وفي هذا الإطار، تبذل المملكة جهوداً متواصلة لحماية النسور والطيور المهاجرة عموماً، من خلال تركيب العوازل على خطوط الكهرباء الواقعة على مسارات هجرتها، ومتابعة تنظيم مواسم الصيد بما يتوافق مع اللوائح البيئية، إضافةً إلى برامج الرصد والدراسات الميدانية التي ينفذها المركز الوطني لتنمية الحياة الفطرية لتعزيز المحافظة على هذه الأنواع وضمان استدامتها.
ويمثل اليوم العالمي للتوعية بالنسور فرصة لتعزيز الوعي المجتمعي والدولي بضرورة حماية هذه الطيور، وضمان استمرار دورها الحيوي في دعم دورة الحياة الطبيعية.

The world celebrated International Vulture Awareness Day today (Saturday), which falls on the first Saturday of September each year. The day aims to highlight the vital environmental role these birds of prey play in maintaining the health of natural systems and to emphasize the importance of protecting them from the threats they face around the world.
More than 100 organizations from 43 countries are participating in this occasion to shed light on the global decline in vulture populations due to multiple risks such as poisoning, habitat loss, and illegal killing.

The environmental importance of vultures is highlighted by their crucial role in disposing of dead animal remains, which helps reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics, and maintains environmental cleanliness and community health, making them a fundamental pillar in sustaining ecological balance.
Efforts of the Kingdom to Protect Vultures
In this context, the Kingdom is making continuous efforts to protect vultures and migratory birds in general, by installing barriers on power lines located along their migration routes, monitoring hunting seasons in accordance with environmental regulations, in addition to monitoring programs and field studies carried out by the National Center for Wildlife Development to enhance the conservation of these species and ensure their sustainability.
International Vulture Awareness Day represents an opportunity to raise community and international awareness about the necessity of protecting these birds and ensuring their vital role in supporting the natural life cycle continues.
