أعربت اللجنة الوزارية العربية - الإسلامية بشأن غزة عن أسفها العميق إزاء قرار وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية بعدم منح تأشيرات الدخول لوفد دولة فلسطين المشارك في أعمال الدورة الثمانين للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة المزمع عقدها في نيويورك خلال شهر سبتمبر القادم.
ودعت اللجنة في بيان لها الإدارة الأمريكية إلى إعادة النظر في هذا القرار والتراجع عنه، مؤكدة أهمية احترام الالتزامات بموجب اتفاقية مقر الأمم المتحدة، وإتاحة الفرصة للحوار والدبلوماسية، والبناء على المواقف الإيجابية للسلطة الوطنية الفلسطينية والتزامها الراسخ بخيار السلام الإستراتيجي.
وشددت على ضرورة دعم السلطة الوطنية الفلسطينية وفخامة الرئيس محمود عباس في المضي قدمًا ببرنامج الحكومة الإصلاحي والالتزامات التي جدد التأكيد عليها أمام قادة الدول دعمًا للسلام ومواجهة العنف والتطرف والإرهاب، في ظل الظرف الصعب الراهن الذي يشهد تصعيدًا غير مسبوق ضد الشعب الفلسطيني، وتحذر من أن إضعاف السلطة الفلسطينية سيقوض جهود السلام ويديم الصراع.
The Arab-Islamic ministerial committee regarding Gaza expressed its deep regret over the decision of the U.S. Department of State to deny entry visas to the delegation of the State of Palestine participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled to be held in New York next September.
The committee called in a statement for the U.S. administration to reconsider and reverse this decision, emphasizing the importance of respecting commitments under the United Nations Headquarters Agreement, allowing for dialogue and diplomacy, and building on the positive positions of the Palestinian National Authority and its firm commitment to the strategic option of peace.
It stressed the necessity of supporting the Palestinian National Authority and His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas in moving forward with the government's reform program and the commitments he reaffirmed before world leaders in support of peace and in confronting violence, extremism, and terrorism, in light of the current difficult circumstances that are witnessing unprecedented escalation against the Palestinian people, warning that weakening the Palestinian Authority will undermine peace efforts and prolong the conflict.
