ولدت الطفلة في الشهر الثامن من الحمل، وكما هو الحال مع معظم الأطفال الخدج، كانت تعاني من مشكلات صحية مختلفة، بما في ذلك ارتجاع المريء الصامت (الشرقة الصامتة) الذي يؤدي لحدوث صعوبات في البلع والنطق. ونتيجة لذلك، تم تركيب أنبوب تغذية خارجي في أحد المستشفيات، مع توصية بعدم إزالة الأنبوب قبل إتمام الطفلة لعامها الأول. وفي حال عدم ظهور أي علامات تحسن، كان من المقرر تركيب أنبوب تغذية عبر البطن بشكل دائم.

The baby was born in the eighth month of pregnancy, and like most premature infants, she suffered from various health issues, including silent gastroesophageal reflux (silent aspiration), which led to difficulties in swallowing and speech. As a result, an external feeding tube was inserted in one of the hospitals, with a recommendation not to remove the tube before the baby completed her first year.
