The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Sheihana bint Saleh Al-Azzaz, expressed her gratitude and appreciation, on her behalf and on behalf of the board members, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah protect them - on the occasion of the Cabinet's approval of the national intellectual property policy, valuing the support of the wise leadership and its interest in the intellectual property system, and what this embodies of belief in its role in supporting creativity and innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

She confirmed that the national intellectual property policy represents a framework for the principles and general directions of the intellectual property system in the Kingdom, and a comprehensive and unified methodology that contributes to activating the role of intellectual property and deepening its impact as one of the tools that assist in implementing the national strategies emerging from the Saudi Vision 2030 programs, by building a balanced system that contributes to stimulating creativity and innovation, developing research and development, industry, and enhancing the knowledge-based economy.

She explained that the policy addresses a comprehensive and balanced value chain for intellectual property through five main pillars, which include awareness and education, generating intellectual property, managing and registering it, respecting and enforcing it, and exploiting and commercializing it, all of which enhance the integration of national efforts and establish a supportive environment for rights holders, creators, innovators, and enterprises.

She added that the policy aims to maximize the developmental and economic impact of intellectual property, and supports the inclusion of intellectual property fields and their provisions within the general, university, technical, and vocational education systems, which contributes to raising awareness of it and supporting creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, instilling in society that the development of intellectual property is part of national identity.

She concluded by affirming that the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property will continue, in cooperation with public and private entities, non-profit organizations, individuals, and entities concerned with intellectual property, to work towards achieving the goals and directions of the policy and activating the role of intellectual property and deepening its impact.
