إنفاذًا لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بدأ الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، صباح اليوم، عملية فصل التوأم الملتصق الفلبيني «كليا وموريس آن» الملتصقتين بالرأس، وذلك في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني بالرياض.
وأوضح المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة، في تصريح صحفي، أن التوأم الملتصق الفلبيني «كليا وموريس آن» بمنطقة الرأس، قدِمتا إلى المملكة في 17 مايو 2025، وبعد دخولهما إلى المستشفى قام الفريق الطبي بإجراء فحوصات دقيقة ومتعددة لهما، وعقد عدة اجتماعات توصل من خلالها إلى أن حالة التوأم تُعد من أكثر الحالات تعقيدًا على مستوى العالم، نظرًا لعدة عوامل طبية من أبرزها وجود وضعية زاوية معقدة للرأسين، واشتراك واسع في الجيوب الوريدية الدماغية، وتداخل نسيج الدماغ بين الطفلتين، بالإضافة إلى أن الطفلة «كليا» كانت تعاني من قصور في عضلة القلب وضمور شديد في الكليتين مع فشل كلوي تام؛ مما يؤدي إلى رفع مستوى الخطورة الجراحية بشكل كبير.
وبين أن الفريق الجراحي بقيادة الدكتور معتصم الزعبي استشاري جراحة مخ وأعصاب الأطفال، قرروا تنفيذ العملية على (5) مراحل يشارك فيها (30) من الاستشاريين والأخصائيين والكوادر التمريضية والفنية في عدة تخصصات منها التخدير، والعناية المركزة، والأشعة المتقدمة، وجراحة التجميل، مشيرًا إلى أنه من المتوقع أن تستغرق العملية (24 ساعة).
وقال: «إنه بناءً على التقييم الطبي متعدد التخصصات والدراسات التشخيصية الدقيقة، فإن نسبة الخطورة تصل إلى 50% نظرًا للتحديات الطبية المصاحبة للحالة، مع وجود احتمال حدوث مضاعفات عصبية شديدة قد تتسبب بالإعاقة بنسبة تصل 60%»، مشيرًا إلى أنه جرى التشاور مع أحد المراكز الطبية المتخصصة في مثل تلك الحالات، وتوافقت مرئياتهم مع تقييم الفريق الطبي من حيث درجة خطورة العملية وارتفاع مستوى المخاطر المرتبطة بها، وتم شرح الحالة بشكل مفصل لوالدي التوأم اللذين أبديا تفهمهما لخطة الفريق الجراحي.
ولفت إلى أن هذه العملية تعد رقم (70) ضمن البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة الذي استطاع منذ عام 1990، أن يعتني بـ (157) توأمًا من (28) دولة في (5) قارات حول العالم.
ورفع الدكتور الربيعة باسمه ونيابة عن أعضاء الفريق الطبي والجراحي، الشكر والتقدير لخادم الحرمين الشريفين، ولولي عهده الأمين -حفظهما الله- على ما يحظى به البرنامج من دعم واهتمام ومتابعة مستمرة، سائلًا المولى عز وجل أن تكلل العملية بالنجاح، وأن يمنّ على التوأم بالصحة والعافية.
In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the medical and surgical team affiliated with the Saudi program for conjoined twins began this morning the separation operation for the Filipino conjoined twins "Klia and Morris Ann," who are joined at the head, at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
The General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action and head of the medical and surgical team, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabiah, stated in a press statement that the Filipino conjoined twins "Klia and Morris Ann," who are joined at the head, arrived in the Kingdom on May 17, 2025. After their admission to the hospital, the medical team conducted multiple and precise examinations, and held several meetings through which they concluded that the twins' condition is one of the most complex cases in the world, due to several medical factors, the most prominent of which are the presence of a complex angular position of the heads, extensive sharing of cerebral venous sinuses, and intermingling of brain tissue between the two girls. Additionally, the child "Klia" was suffering from heart muscle failure and severe atrophy of the kidneys with complete kidney failure, which significantly increases the surgical risk level.
He indicated that the surgical team, led by Dr. Mu'tasim Al-Zoubi, a consultant in pediatric neurosurgery, decided to carry out the operation in (5) stages involving (30) consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff from several specialties including anesthesia, intensive care, advanced radiology, and plastic surgery, noting that the operation is expected to take (24 hours).
He said: "Based on the multidisciplinary medical assessment and precise diagnostic studies, the risk percentage reaches 50% due to the medical challenges associated with the case, with a possibility of severe neurological complications that could lead to disability of up to 60%." He pointed out that consultations were held with a specialized medical center for such cases, and their views aligned with the medical team's assessment regarding the degree of risk of the operation and the high level of associated risks. The case was explained in detail to the parents of the twins, who expressed their understanding of the surgical team's plan.
He noted that this operation is number (70) within the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has been able since 1990 to care for (157) pairs of twins from (28) countries across (5) continents around the world.
Dr. Al Rabiah expressed his gratitude and appreciation, on his behalf and on behalf of the medical and surgical team members, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and to his trustworthy Crown Prince - may Allah protect them - for the support, attention, and continuous follow-up that the program receives, asking Almighty Allah to crown the operation with success and to grant the twins health and wellness.
