U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that without the support provided by President Donald Trump's administration to Ukraine, "it would not have remained a sovereign state."
Rubio told reporters today, Wednesday, during a visit to India, "Without the aid provided by the United States, including during the Trump administration, there would be no Ukraine today, and it would not have remained a sovereign state."
Rubio's remarks came in response to questions regarding a report published by the American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal," which stated that Elon Musk, the CEO of "SpaceX," recently ordered a slowdown in the operation of the "Starlink" satellite system, which helps Ukraine counter deadly Russian air attacks.
The newspaper quoted U.S. officials and others whose identities were not disclosed, confirming that Elon Musk discussed the decision to slow down the "Starlink" system with President Donald Trump after this action became publicly known.
Rubio clarified that he does not know if the president was aware of the decision in advance, noting that the United States cannot, in any case, control how a private company acts regarding its products.
In response to questions about the newspaper's report, Rubio said, "It is not true that we were aware of the matter in advance or that we directed this action in any way."
