أعلنت رابطة السيارات الأمريكية، اليوم، أن أسعار البنزين ارتفعت إلى متوسط بلغ 3.70 دولار للغالون بزيادة 24% للغالون منذ بدء الصراع الأمريكي-الإيراني في 28 فبراير الماضي.
ويعد ذلك أعلى مستوى مسجل لأسعار البنزين في الولايات المتحدة منذ مايو 2024، وذلك في ظل مخاوف بشأن الإمدادات نتيجة الحرب بين إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة من جهة وإيران من جهة أخرى، وهو معدل قريب من الزيادة التي شهدتها أسعار الوقود قبل 4 سنوات عندما غزت روسيا أوكرانيا، ما يعكس سرعة استثنائية في ارتفاع الأسعار.
صدمات جيوسياسية
وأدت الاضطرابات التي طالت صادرات النفط من الشرق الأوسط عبر مضيق هرمز إلى ارتفاع أسعار الوقود في أنحاء العالم، وهو ما يهدد بإثقال كاهل المستهلكين وتقويض النشاط الاقتصادي العالمي.
وقال الرئيس التنفيذي لإحدى شركات الإقراض الصغيرة ويليام ستيرن: «الصدمات الجيوسياسية لا تحتاج إلى أشهر لتصل إلى جيبك، بل لأيام فقط، تشعر بالضغط فوراً عندما تملأ خزان سيارتك لنقل أطفالك إلى التدريب».
تواصل الزيادة
وقال كبير محللي النفط بإحدى الشركات المتخصصة دينتون سينكويغرنا: «إن أسعار البنزين الفورية وأسعار الجملة سجلت ارتفاعات من رقمين نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، كما أن تغيرات أسعار الجملة تنعكس عادة على الأسعار في محطات الوقود في اليوم التالي».
ومن المرجح أن تتواصل الزيادات في الأيام القادمة، بعدما تعرضت المزيد من السفن لهجمات في مضيق هرمز يوم الأربعاء الماضي، إضافة إلى انتقال الولايات المتحدة إلى بيع بنزين الصيف، الذي يحترق بصورة أنظف لكنه أكثر تكلفة في الإنتاج.
The American Automobile Association announced today that gasoline prices have risen to an average of $3.70 per gallon, a 24% increase per gallon since the start of the U.S.-Iran conflict on February 28.
This is the highest recorded level for gasoline prices in the United States since May 2024, amid concerns about supply due to the war between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other. This rate is close to the increase seen in fuel prices four years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine, reflecting an extraordinary speed in price hikes.
Geopolitical Shocks
The disruptions affecting oil exports from the Middle East through the Strait of Hormuz have led to rising fuel prices worldwide, threatening to burden consumers and undermine global economic activity.
William Stern, the CEO of a small lending company, stated: “Geopolitical shocks don’t take months to hit your wallet; they only take days. You feel the pressure immediately when you fill up your car to take your kids to practice.”
Continued Increases
Denton Sincuigerna, a senior oil analyst at a specialized firm, said: “Spot gasoline prices and wholesale prices recorded double-digit increases last weekend, and changes in wholesale prices typically reflect on gas station prices the following day.”
Further increases are likely in the coming days after more ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz last Wednesday, in addition to the United States transitioning to selling summer gasoline, which burns cleaner but is more expensive to produce.
