أعلنت تايوان أنها أحرزت «تقدماً بنّاءً» في الجولة الثانية من محادثات التجارة مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، والتي تهدف إلى تجنّب الرسوم الجمركية التي فرضها الرئيس دونالد ترمب.
وجاء في بيان رسمي تايواني أمس (الأحد): «نرى أنه تم إحراز تقدم بنّاء حتى الآن في المفاوضات، التي عُقدت بالأيام الأخيرة في واشنطن».
وكانت إدارة ترمب فرضت رسوماً جمركية بنسبة 32% على الواردات التايوانية في الثاني من أبريل، قبل أن تُعلّقها لمدة 90 يوماً.
وفي الشهر الماضي، التقت المفاوضة التجارية التايوانية يانغ جين ني مع ممثل التجارة الأمريكي جيميسون غرير في الجولة الأولى من المحادثات التي أُجريت في مدينة جيجو الكورية الجنوبية.
وقبل إعلان إدارة ترمب عن الرسوم، كانت شركة «تايوان سيميكونداكتر مانيوفاكتشورينغ»، أكبر شركة في الجزيرة والمورّد الرئيسي لشركتي «أبل، وإنفيديا»، أعلنت أنها تعتزم استثمار 100 مليار دولار إضافية في الولايات المتحدة.
وتخطط الشركة لبناء ستة مصانع متقدّمة لأشباه الموصلات ومرفقي تغليف، إلى جانب مركز أبحاث، ضمن استثمار بقيمة 165 مليار دولار في ولاية أريزونا، من المتوقع أن يوفر آلاف الوظائف.

Taiwan announced that it has made "constructive progress" in the second round of trade talks with the United States, aimed at avoiding the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
In an official Taiwanese statement yesterday (Sunday), it was stated: "We see that constructive progress has been made so far in the negotiations, which took place in recent days in Washington."
The Trump administration had imposed a 32% tariff on Taiwanese imports on April 2, before suspending it for 90 days.
Last month, Taiwanese trade negotiator Yang Jin-ni met with U.S. Trade Representative Jameson Greer in the first round of talks held in Jeju, South Korea.
Before the Trump administration announced the tariffs, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the largest company on the island and a major supplier to Apple and Nvidia, announced that it plans to invest an additional $100 billion in the United States.
The company plans to build six advanced semiconductor factories and packaging facilities, along with a research center, as part of a $165 billion investment in Arizona, which is expected to create thousands of jobs.
