في حدث استثنائي، تستضيف العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، قمة خاصة تجمع نخبة من كبار المسؤولين التنفيذيين في قطاعات النفط، التكنولوجيا، الطاقة، والاستثمار المالي، لبحث كيفية تلبية الاحتياجات الطاقوية المتزايدة لتكنولوجيا الذكاء الاصطناعي.
تُنظم القمة، التي تحمل اسم ENACT (الطاقة والعمل)، بالتعاون بين شركتين إماراتيتين هما إكس آر جي (XRG)، وإم جي إكس (MGX)، ومعهد الأطلسي الأمريكي؛ بهدف إيجاد حلول عملية لتحديات الطاقة المرتبطة بالذكاء الاصطناعي.
وتُبرز القمة الأهمية المتزايدة لربط قطاعات الطاقة والتكنولوجيا، إذ تسعى شركات التكنولوجيا الكبرى إلى تأمين مصادر طاقة متنوعة، سواء كانت غازاً، طاقة نووية، أو متجددة، لتشغيل مراكز البيانات الضخمة التي تُشغل تطبيقات الذكاء الاصطناعي.
ويعكس الحدث تركيز القادة التنفيذيين على هذا التحدي، في ظل الطلب المتسارع على الطاقة.
ويستضيف القمة الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة أدنوك وزير الصناعة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة في الإمارات الدكتور سلطان أحمد الجابر، بحضور وزير الطاقة الأمريكي كريس رايت.
وتشمل قائمة الحضور المرتقبين قادة بارزين منهم: الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة إكسون موبيل دارين وودز، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة بي بي موراي أوشينكلوس، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة أوكسيدنتال بتروليوم فيكي هولوب، رئيس الشؤون العالمية في أوبن إيه آي كريس ليهان، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة كونستليشن إنرجي جوزيف دومينغيز، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة الإمارات للطاقة النووية محمد الحمادي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة «مصدر» الإماراتية للطاقة المتجددة محمد جميل الرمحي، مستثمرون بارزون مثل براندون لوتنيك من «كانتور فيتزجيرالد»، ومارسيل فان بويك من كارلايل، وحاكم ولاية ألاسكا مايك دونليفي، الذي يسعى لجذب استثمارات لمشروع خط أنابيب غاز وغاز طبيعي مسال.
وتُركز القمة على تلبية الاحتياجات الطاقوية للذكاء الاصطناعي حتى عام 2030، مع التخطيط للفرص طويلة الأجل، كما تهدف إلى إنتاج نتائج عملية، إذ سيصدر تقرير لاحق يُلخص المناقشات والتوصيات.
وتُعتبر الولايات المتحدة سوقاً إستراتيجية رئيسية بالنسبة لشركة إكس آر جي، وفقاً للمنظمين، كما تأتي هذه القمة بعد حدث مماثل عُقد في أبوظبي أواخر عام 2024.
يثير النمو المتسارع في مراكز بيانات الذكاء الاصطناعي مخاوف بيئية، إذ يخشى نشطاء البيئة من الاعتماد المفرط على الوقود الأحفوري لتلبية الطلب الطاقوي، مما قد يزيد من انبعاثات الكربون.
في الوقت ذاته، تواجه الولايات المتحدة ضغوطاً سياسية داخلية، إذ يسعى الجمهوريون في الكونغرس ومسؤولو إدارة ترمب إلى تقليص حوافز الطاقة النظيفة التي أُقرت في قانون المناخ لعام 2022.
In an extraordinary event, the American capital, Washington, is hosting a special summit today (Tuesday) that brings together a select group of senior executives from the oil, technology, energy, and financial investment sectors to discuss how to meet the increasing energy needs of artificial intelligence technology.
The summit, named ENACT (Energy and Action), is organized in collaboration between two Emirati companies, XRG and MGX, and the American Atlantic Council, with the aim of finding practical solutions to the energy challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
The summit highlights the growing importance of linking the energy and technology sectors, as major technology companies seek to secure diverse energy sources, whether gas, nuclear, or renewable energy, to power the massive data centers that run artificial intelligence applications.
The event reflects the focus of executive leaders on this challenge, amid the accelerating demand for energy.
The summit is hosted by the CEO of ADNOC and the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, in the presence of U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.
The list of expected attendees includes prominent leaders such as: ExxonMobil CEO Darren W. Woods, BP CEO Murray Auchincloss, Occidental Petroleum CEO Vicki Hollub, Global Affairs Head at OpenAI Chris Lehane, Constellation Energy CEO Joseph Dominguez, CEO of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation Mohammed Al Hammadi, CEO of the Emirati renewable energy company Masdar Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, notable investors like Brandon Lottnick from Cantor Fitzgerald, and Marcel van Bock from Carlyle, as well as Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy, who is seeking to attract investments for a gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas project.
The summit focuses on meeting the energy needs of artificial intelligence through 2030, while planning for long-term opportunities, and aims to produce practical outcomes, with a report to be issued later summarizing the discussions and recommendations.
The United States is considered a key strategic market for XRG, according to the organizers, and this summit follows a similar event held in Abu Dhabi in late 2024.
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence data centers raises environmental concerns, as environmental activists fear an over-reliance on fossil fuels to meet energy demand, which could increase carbon emissions.
At the same time, the United States is facing internal political pressures, as congressional Republicans and Trump administration officials seek to reduce clean energy incentives established in the 2022 Climate Act.
