«إياتا»: شركات الطيران تستفيد من انخفاض أسعار النفط

The global aviation sector benefits from the drop in oil prices, which has led to a decrease in kerosene fuel costs. This is according to the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Willie Walsh, who added that this, in turn, contributes to lower ticket prices.

Walsh said in an interview with Bloomberg Television during the association's annual general meeting in New Delhi: "Fuel typically represents the largest item in our costs, and this decline will help offset any drop in demand if a slowdown occurs."

He added: "It also usually affects pricing, and there is almost a direct relationship between oil prices and airline ticket prices."

Walsh warned that while the decrease in ticket prices, despite its role in stimulating demand, clearly reduces the overall revenues of the sector.

Global aviation industry leaders are gathering in New Delhi over the next few days to discuss the state of the sector. Walsh is expected to reveal his official forecasts for the sector's profits and revenues.

Airlines are showing increasing caution regarding the demand outlook affected by the global economic repercussions of the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. At the same time, increasingly weak economic forecasts have led to falling oil prices, which represents an advantage for airlines on the cost side.
