طالب الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب مجلس الاحتياطي الاتحادي (البنك المركزي الأمريكي)، اليوم، بخفض أسعار الفائدة «عاجلاً وليس آجلاً». جاء ذلك في منشور على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي. وانتقد ترمب أيضا رئيس مجلس الاحتياطي الاتحادي جيروم باول.
وقال ترمب في المنشور: «يتفق الجميع تقريباً على ضرورة أن يخفض مجلس الاحتياطي الاتحادي أسعار الفائدة عاجلاً وليس آجلاً».
وأضاف: «باول، الرجل المعروف بتأخره للغاية، ربما يُفسد الأمر مجدداً، لكن من يدري؟».
من جهته، أعلن رئيس بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي في أتلانتا رافاييل بوسـتيك، أنه يتوقع أن يشهد الاقتصاد الأمريكي تباطؤاً خلال العام الحالي، لكنه لا يتوقع أن يدخل في حالة ركود، مشيراً إلى أنه لا يزال يتوقع خفضاً واحداً فقط في أسعار الفائدة خلال عام 2025.
وأوضح بوسـتيك في مقابلة نشرت، أمس، ضمن بودكاست «Odd Lots» التابع لوكالة بلومبيرغ، أن النمو الاقتصادي قد يتراوح بين 0.5% و1% هذا العام، مشيراً إلى أن حالة عدم اليقين والمخاوف بشأن المستقبل تؤثر سلباً على سلوك المستهلكين. كما أشار إلى أن التقلبات في السياسات التجارية جعلت الشركات أكثر تردداً في اتخاذ قرارات استثمارية رئيسية.
وأضاف: «أتوقع خفضاً واحداً فقط لهذا العام جزئياً لأنني أعتقد أن حالة عدم اليقين من غير المرجح أن تُحل سريعاً».

President Donald Trump called on the Federal Reserve (the U.S. central bank) today to lower interest rates "sooner rather than later." This came in a post on social media. Trump also criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
Trump stated in the post: "Almost everyone agrees that the Federal Reserve should lower interest rates sooner rather than later."
He added: "Powell, the man known for being extremely late, might mess it up again, but who knows?".
For his part, Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic announced that he expects the U.S. economy to slow down this year, but he does not anticipate it entering a recession, noting that he still expects only one rate cut in 2025.
Bostic explained in an interview published yesterday on Bloomberg's "Odd Lots" podcast that economic growth could range between 0.5% and 1% this year, pointing out that uncertainty and fears about the future negatively affect consumer behavior. He also noted that fluctuations in trade policies have made companies more hesitant to make major investment decisions.
He added: "I expect only one cut this year partly because I believe that the uncertainty is unlikely to be resolved quickly."
